News & Reviews:   Huawei Mate X pre-order

Based on a statement by Gizmochina.com, it seems that Huawei is expected to unveil a new and improved Huawei Mate X smartphone during MWC 2020 next year. The device is expected to come with several improvements such as a better chipset, a more durable screen and hinge mechanism.

Huawei has recently released an image which showcases the price of the parts needed to repair the Mate X, which includes the battery, case, and more. What really caught our attention was the fact that in order to fix the display, it will cost a whopping RMB7080(~RM4195).

Based on a statement by Gizmochina, Huawei can still use ARM’s v8-A as well as their V9 architectures due to the fact that both of them were developed in the United Kingdom. With that said, Huawei can utilize these architectures by ARM to manufacture HiSilicon chipsets such as the Kirin 990, Kirin 980 and more that are used by smartphones like the Huawei Mate 30 series, Mate X and the P30 series. 

Moments after the Huawei Mate X got its release date, Huawei has also announced the release date for the Huawei Mate Xs which will be on March 2020 next year. The main difference between the X and the Xs model would be that the Xs is equipped with the HiSilicon Kirin 990 which come integrated with a 5G modem, while the X variant comes with the Kirin 980 accompanied by the Balong 5000 modem.

After several months of delays, the Huawei Mate X will finally begin shipping in China starting from 15 November 2019 onwards. As for the pricing, the foldable smartphone will be priced from RMB16999(~RM10065) and it will come with tech specs such as the HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset accompanied by the Balong 5000 modem, and a 4500mAh dual-cell battery with support for up to 55W fast charging.

Finally, there is a teaser of the redesigned Huawei Mate X since the last update we covered on the Huawei Mate X in September. The redesigned device now comes with a dedicated button to unfold the display into the tablet mode.

The Huawei Mate X was delayed to launch with many questioning when it will be announced. Thankfully, your answers have been answered as the device has been slated to launch this October, according to Huawei Business Group Chairman Richard Yu. 

Based on a statement by GSMArena.com, the Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone which was delayed will feature upgraded specs such as the HiSilicon Kirin 990 chipset. Not only that, it was reported that the foldable device is coming with the same camera configuration as the Huawei P30 including the RYYB sensor which allows for better low light performance by increasing light sensitivity by up to 40%.

We’re all still awaiting the Samsung Galaxy Fold to be released since the disastrous news of how the device malfunctioned when it got into reviewers’ hands. Samsung co-CEO, DJ Koh admits that he had “pushed it through before it was ready” and “had missed something on the foldable phone”.

Huawei’s first 5G phone is expected to be its first foldable smartphone, the Huawei Mate X 5G. The device was initially rumoured to have been released last month but now it is reported that the device may be released this December.
