Camera-focused site DxOMark have come out with their review of the Apple iPhone XS Max, giving it a rating of 105 (a good 4 points lower than the 109 1st-place scoring Huawei P20 Pro). Granted, this is much higher than the 97 scored by the iPhone X, as they remark that the 6.5-inch display iPhone XS Max uses a larger 1.4µm pixels sensor with improved image processing, enabling zero shutter lag and real-time HDR preview.

Huawei Mate 20 series will not feature the 3.5mm audio jack + 3 camera setup confirmed on the device
Sep 18, 2018Based on the casing images of the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro courtesy of slashleaks.com, it appears that the Huawei Mate 20 series will not be featuring the 3.5mm audio jack. Similar to all the previous reports we’ve covered, the Huawei Mate 20 series will feature a square cutout which will house the triple rear camera setup. Not only that, based on reports the Huawei Mate 20 will feature a circular fingerprint scanner while the Mate 20 Pro will have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

If you’re a Huawei Mate 10 Pro or P20 Pro user and you’ve been waiting since August for that GPU Turbo update to arrive, finally you can get downloading as the update has rolled out (or at least it has for our devices). For the Mate 10 Pro you can expect a 339MB download with GPU Turbo and the Game Suite for better overall gaming along with the usual Google Security updates. Other phones should also be getting the update soon as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has finally got its official DxOMark score of 103, which is 2nd place with the HTC U12+ below the Huawei P20 Pro. This is still higher than the 99 scored Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. The folks at DxOMark mention that it has a photo score of 107 and a video score of 94 for accurate but neutral colours and overall very good image quality.

Gartner has stated that Huawei has claimed the spot as the number 2 smartphone vendor, overtaking Apple while Samsung still maintaining number 1 spot on the list. Based on a statement by Gartner, “Huawei’s smartphone sales grew 38.6 percent in the second quarter of 2018 thanks to the massive sale of the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro. Huawei continues to bring innovative features into its smartphones and expand its smartphone portfolio to cover larger consumer segments."
