  • More Huawei P8 teasers appear

    More Huawei P8 teasers appear

After the previous Huawei P8 teaser indicating a better battery life, more such teasers have appeared indicating other new features. These include a cracked screen image indicating a stronger screen on the P8, a better camera, a better price and compatiblity with wearables like the recent Huawei TalkBand B2. Perhaps the last image could also indicate that the Huawei P8 gets released along with the Huawei TalkBand B2. So far, the teasers do not confirm anything but most rumours indicate that the P8 will offer tech specs that include a  octa-core Kirin 930 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 5.2-inch full HD display and 13MP camera with dual LED flash and OIS. Set for announcement on 15 April 2015, we shouldn't have to wait long to find out for sure.

  • Could the upcoming Huawei P8 be more power saving?

Could the upcoming Huawei P8 be more power saving?

The Huawei P series of smartphones are more known for their performance and super thin chassis but the upcoming Huawei P8 could well get a new power saving feature, at least according to Huawei themselves. Huawei recently released a teaser image for the upcoming Huawei P8 which suggests that it could have a new power-saving feature. Considering that the Huawei Ascend P6 and Ascend P7 were both quite thin, it would be safe to assume that the P8 would also be thin and not likely to pack in a large battery. This means the teaser could indicate a more efficient method of extending battery life than before, perhaps even getting 2 days worth of battery life in a single charge. The teaser does not reveal anything else like other tech specs, Malaysia release dates or pricing but many are expecting the Huawei P8 to arrive on 15 April 2015 with an octa-core Kirin 930 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 5.2-inch full HD display and 13MP camera with dual LED flash and OIS. Stay tuned for more developments.

  • Rumours: Huawei P8 pics leaked?

    Rumours: Huawei P8 pics leaked?

Set for announcement at MWC 2015, leaked pics of the Huawei P8 have surfaced, showing bits and pieces of the smartphone encased in a casing of some sort. The casing hides much but we expect the P8 to be thinner than the P7 and have a mostly metallic body. Huawei have indicated that they would be doing more premium products so tech specs and features for the P8 should probably be high-end as well. No confirmed tech specs yet but the P8 is expected to get a 2GHz Kirin 930 processor, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage, 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and Android 5.0. Early AnTuTu benchmarks reveal a score of 47426, which is about as high as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but we should find out more next week.

  • Rumors: Huawei P8 to feature zirconia ceramic body, dual cameras and Kirin 930 SoC?

Rumors: Huawei P8 to feature zirconia ceramic body, dual cameras and Kirin 930 SoC?

A few days back, a leak said that Huawei's upcoming flagship for 2015, the Huawei P8 could be released in April 2015. Now, a new report from a Chinese website reveals more tech specs and features about the device. The Huawei P8 is said to feature a new material, possibly zirconia ceramics instead of the traditional plastic and metal housing. The device would be further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on both the front display and the rear panel. Coming to the tech specs, the P8 flagship is expected to feature the company's new octa-core Kirin 930 processor based on a 16nm HiFet manufacturing process. There is no word on the RAM or the internal storage of the upcoming device. As for the display, the phone will most likely sport a 5.2-inch IPS panel with 1920 x 1080p resolution. Like its predecessor, the Huawei P7, this new smartphone will be thin, measuring only about 6mm in thickness. In comparison, the P7 was 6.5mm thick. The report says that Huawei will bring its dual camera setup on its new flagship as well. Considering the thickness, the phone will reportedly feature a rather small 2600 mAh battery. The same source further reveals that the Huawei P8 will retail for around 2999 Yuan (RM1710) in China but there are no exact Malaysia release dates just yet.

  • Huawei Chief set sights on Samsung as main competition, not Xiaomi

Huawei Chief set sights on Samsung as main competition, not Xiaomi

Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Meizu have gained international recognition lately. While Samsung and Apple are the top two smartphone makers worldwide, the third position is currently being battled over by Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo. Many consider them to be direct competitors in the industry. However, according to Huawei's Chief, Richard Yu, the company's real competitor is Samsung and not Xiaomi. According to him, the affordable smartphone maker Xiaomi has no chance against Huawei in the high-end segment. He claims that his company's flagship devices are much better than Xiaomi's offerings. This comment doesn't come as a surprise since he recently criticized both Xiaomi and Meizu for incorporating a Quad HD resolution display on their devices. Both the Xiaomi Mi Note Proand the Meizu MX4 feature quad HD ultra-high resolution displays. His recent comment indicates that Xiaomi's Mi Note flagship and Xiaomi Mi 4 doesn't offer the advantages of Huawei's devices like theHuawei Mate 7 and the Honor 6 Plus. The two Chinese companies are expected to unveil a number of devices later this year, including flagships like the Xiaomi Mi 5, Huawei P8 and even the next generation model of the popular Mate 7. So, it would be interesting to see which one actually comes out as the winner in 2015.

  • Rumours: The Huawei P8 flagship prototype leaked with super slim bezels

Rumours: The Huawei P8 flagship prototype leaked with super slim bezels

Recent reports said that Huawei had a great 2014. Now, the company is all set to announce a number of devices in the first and second quarters of this year. A few days back, the upcoming Huawei flagship called the Huawei P8 was spotted on twitter. From the images, the device looked like a prototype model. The phone had a very thin profile with super slim bezels and overall, it looked quite well built. According to the source, the Huawei P8 will feature tech specs such as an octa-core Kirin 930 chipset with 3GB RAM. There will be a 5.2-inch display up front, with full HD 1080p resolution. Given the flagship status, the phone is said to come with a 13MP camera at the back with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The battery will be just average, around 2600 mAh which could be due to the phone's thin profile. Earlier, it was rumored that the phone could be announced at MWC 2015, however, latest reports indicate that Huawei will hold a special event in April to release its flagship. The rumored high-end Huawei D8 with 5.5-inch 2K display and Kirin 950 processor may also make an appearance at said event.

Rumors: Huawei Mate 7 Compact could be announced at MWC 2015?

A few days back, Huawei announced that it would hold a press event on 1 March 2015, just a day before MWC 2015. The company didn't reveal any details of the possible launches that could be made at the event, but latest rumors indicate that Huawei may announce a compact version of its popular Huawei Ascend Mate 7 flagship. According to a Chinese blog, the new device, which could be called the Huawei Mate 7 Compact, will be a smaller version of the flagship smartphone. Moreover, the company may drop the Ascend name completely for its new launch. The Ascend Mate 7 is a large phone, thanks to its 6-inch display. On the other hand, the new Mate 7 Compact will reportedly feature a 5.5-inch display, which is quite the standard among flagship devices announced lately. The tech specs of the device have not been leaked yet, but rumors say that the phone will carry the full metal premium build found on the original Mate 7. A number of other handsets are also expected to be announced at the 1 March event, which may include the rumored Huawei P8 flagship. Expect more details in the coming few weeks.
