Qualcomm confirms that HUAWEI no longer needs its chips and has moved to its own in-house processors

Qualcomm has announced that Chinese tech giant HUAWEI is no longer using its mobile chips and that the latter is now utilising its in-house processors. This is after the US banned Qualcomm and Intel from exporting chips to the company.

Based on a statement by huaweicentral.com, it seems that Huawei has started the development of a new 3nm Kirin processor which is expected to be available around the end of 2021. While not much is known in regards to which exact smartphone will come with the aforementioned chip, it does give us a better idea of what to expect from Huawei in the future.

Huawei recently announced that they might be introducing a new Kirin 820 5G chipset, which will be unveiled during the online conference that’s happening at 9PM on 24 February 2020. Based on a statement by gizchina.com, it seems that the new chipset comes with 5G support and it is manufactured using TSMN’s 6nm process.
