    iFixit tears down LG G5

LG G5 is indeed one of the most innovative and escentric smartphone designs we've seen so far from CES 2016, allowing the user to take out the battery easily from the bottom and switching "gears" for different purpose such as taking a picture. If that's not good enough for you, iFixit has reported the G5 is repairable with a rating of 8/10.

Rumours: Huawei P9 coming on 9 March 2016 in Berlin?

Huawei recently announced their MateBook hybrid 2-in-1 tablet at MWC but didn't really detail anything on their upcoming Huawei P9 flagship smartphone. Looks like we may see it sooner than you think as a teaser image of an invite for a Huawei event has appeared. While we're not sure what beer has to do with it, the P9 has been making the rounds in the rumour mill recently with leaks revealing tech specs like a dual rear camera estimated to be 12MP camera sensors much like the one in the Huawei Nexus 6P but perhaps with different lens like on the LG G5.

No other tech specs or features were revealed but we expect it to have the Kirin 950 (or 955) processor, 4GB / 6GB of RAM, 32GB storage and possibly a USB Type-C port. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but it is expected to come with the Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei P9 Enhanced Edition and Huawei P9 Max. Stay tuned for more details and as always with such rumours do take this with a pinch of salt.

Comparison: Xiaomi Mi 5 vs LG G5 vs Samsung Galaxy S7

So just in case you missed the trash talk by LG at Samsung on Twitter (which was taken down already) during the first day of MWC 2016, initially, we wanted to do a comparison between theSamsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 to see which one is better. That was until Xiaomi Mi 5 came along and kind of dropped the mic by showing a high AnTuTu score (142084 points) which surpasses both of them, with 133054 points (G5), followed by 116668 (Galaxy S7). Although the Mi 5 comes up on top with the score, it doesn't mean that it's better. So which one is better? Let's find out in thiscomparison between the three flagships

  • LG G5 officially announced with modular Slide-out Battery, Camera and HiFi audio attachments

LG G5 officially announced with modular Slide-out Battery, Camera and HiFi audio attachments

LG officially announced the LG G5 at MWC 2016 today featuring a metal uni-body and modular attachments to swap out the battery, increase the camera performance or make the smartphone into a HiFi audio device. As rumoured, the LG G5 offers a modular slide-out battery connected to the bottom panel which you can slide-out after you turn off the phone. You can then slot in another Slide-Out Battery or increase the camera performance with a Slide-Out CAM Plus attachment featuring dedicated buttons for the power, shutter, record, zoom anda an LED indicator with a more comfortable grip. The LG CAM Plus also offers an extra 1200 mAh battery with auto focus and exposure lock.

The LG Hi-Fi Plus attachement features Bang and Oluffsen or B&O PLAY for 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC upsampling audio. It also supports 32-bit 384 KHz high-definition audio playback. The LG G5 itself is always on and features an extreme Wide Angle Lens consisting of two rear cameras. One is a standard 78-degree lens while another has a 135-degree wide-angle lens, so you can switch between the two when you need to. The Always-on feature means that you can always see just the time, date and notifications on the screen even while the G5 is in sleep mode (perhaps useful in a darkened room according to the video below) which saves battery by only requiring 0.8 percent of the battery's full capacity per hour, so you don't have to always turn on the display to check things out.

  • Rumours: LG G5 model leaked with protective casing?

Rumours: LG G5 model leaked with protective casing?

LG G5 rumours continues to surface as we're just a month away from the MWC 2016, However, this time instead of concept renders what we got this time is an LG prototype protective casing as shown in the image above.

There's a smartphone covered by the protective casing too, but we can't be too sure if it's the real LG G5. But rumours say that a leading online retailer, MobileFun has added “ArmourDillo” in their website for the G5 which seems to match. Not to mention, based on the previous concept renders; the dummy smartphone kind of matches the renders nicely with the dual cameras and fingerprint scanner on the back, and the volume button on the right side. It's also rumoured that the battery is removable from the bottom.

  • Rumours: Another LG G5 render leaked

Rumours: Another LG G5 render leaked

As mentioned in our last LG G5 post, LG will make an appearance at the MWC 2016 next month to go head on with Samsung and Sony. We have already showed you how the render might look like based on the eyewitness testimony, now there's another one leaked in the internet and it looks quite similar to the previous render.

It's reported that the G5 is probably going full metal, the four corners are curved and the volume buttons are placed on the left just like the first render. What's interesting to note that, the power button is actually placed at the bottom along with the speaker, while the headphone jack remains at the top. The device will have a fingerprint sensor on the back too.
