In Malaysia, everyone knows that our internet data coverage is inconsistent, particularly inside buildings or underground. To solve the issue, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is exploring new technologies to improve internet coverage.

In case you missed it, U Mobile has been chosen as the second 5G network provider by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). It certainly got some reactions from the public and other telcos, particularly Maxis.

CelcomDigi, in a statement today, said that it is “considering several options at hand” after it was snubbed for U Mobile in the awarding of Malaysia’s second 5G network. However, CelcomDigi assures that the decision will have no impact on its current 5G customers.

Last September, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo announced the establishment of a National AI Office that will frame the AI ecosystem in Malaysia. Today during the opening speech of the Malaysia Digital Xceleration event, he shared a little update about, where this AI Office will start operating as early as December this year.

The code of conduct for the licensing of social media platform providers will be announced by the end of October. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the preparation of the draft code of conduct is being worked on by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Malaysia is expected to switch from Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) to IPv6 soon. It comes after the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is conducting a Public Consultation on the proposed way forward for 100% adoption and complete migration to IPv6 in Malaysia.
