During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei was awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution for LTE Evolution to 5G’ as well as Best Technology Enabler for NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) solution. It’s noted that this is the first year that GSMA has chosen to present the award for 5th generation mobile networks (5G), which Huawei showcased at the event with their “4.5G Evolution to 5G” solution for high-quality coverage, ultra-large capacity and flexible network architecture, helping operators to keep ahead on the road to 5G and making it a reality.

At the MWC 2017, Meizu made an appearance presenting their latest technology the Super mCharge. The Super mCharge technology is not unknown as most of their smartphones already has the technology, however, what's intriguing about this one is that it can fully charge a phone even faster than before.

GSMA have announced that the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has been awarded the Best Smartphone 2016 for this year's MWC 2017. Previously named the best smartphone for last year's MWC, this year the Galaxy S7 edge went up against the Huawei P9, Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Google Pixel XL and Moto Z.

The folks at Tech2.hu have uncovered rumours that Alcatel will be bringing 5 new smartphones to MWC 2017 with one of them having a modular design. This isn't the first time a modular phone has appeared but the LG G5 and its friends didn't really sell very well, mainly due to the high price of each modular piece.
