Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has asked telco service providers to take immediate action to improve their subpar network service quality in Melaka. This is after a Cellular Service Quality Test (voice calls) conducted on a river cruise along Sungai Melaka in Banda Hilir yielded many dropped call problems.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has issued a warning to telco companies in Malaysia to not charge customers extra for 5G access. He added that the government would consider taking action against them should this happen.

Today, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) released a new statement regarding online harm and imbalance media. A discussion took place yesterday at MCMC HQ, where several members considered regulating digital platforms, namely Meta and Google to address challenges posed by online media.

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) stressed that the usage of satellite internet services such as Starlink is not a commercial decision, but just a temporary measure for areas without good internet access. Its Minister, Fahmi Fadzil further revealed that long-term solutions are being implemented for the issue.
