It was only yesterday when we reported that Maybank is planning a new mobile app, which could replace the MAE app. And as predicted, it was met with a negative reception, citing the hassle of transitioning to another platform. Thankfully, Maybank clarified that it does not plan to replace its existing MAE mobile banking app, reversing earlier speculation about the introduction of a completely new platform

You read that right, Maybank is preparing to roll out a new retail banking mobile application as part of its broader ROAR30 five-year strategy. Not only that, it may potentially replace its current MAE app that millions of Malaysians use for digital banking and lifestyle features.

Today, Maybank celebrates its fifth year of the MAE app. To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Maybank has launched the MAE Turns 5 campaign — rewarding loyal customers with an attractive 5% p.a. return on funds deposited into their MAE Wallets. The company also revealed that it has facilitated over RM4 trillion in digital transactions since the launch of its MAE App in 2020.

It seems that since last night (18 June 2025), Maybank has been facing an unscheduled outage affecting several popular digital platforms, including the MAE app, QR Payments, and M2U Biz. Users are reporting interruptions across major functionalities until today.

Starting on 26 May 2025, Maybank will introduce a new daily transaction limit for reload services. This initiative is part of its efforts to enhance security and ensure a safer online banking environment.

Today, Maybank announced an upcoming system maintenance on its online banking services. It will begin on the 10th and the 17th of May 2025, so that's just two days of unavailable online banking services. Without further ado, do read below to get a heads-up.

Today, Maybank rolled out a new update on the MAE app that allows users to switch between individual and sole proprietor access. To use this new feature, customers must update the MAE app to the latest 0.9.25 version on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery.

It's been four years since Maybank released the MAE app and we were wondering when the original Maybank2u MY app will be officially shut down and be replaced. Well, there's still no date announced yet but starting on 30 June 2024 onwards, it's recommended to switch over to MAE.
