As the COVID-19 cases continue to hike, our government has announced the latest MCO 3.0 (Movement Control Order) for six districts in Selangor including Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat, and Sepang. Starting from 6 May to 17 May 2021, the people from these districts are not allowed to travel interstate and inter-district. However, for those who are to attend vaccine appointments, exceptions will be made.

As we get closer to August, many are looking forward to the end of the movement control order (MCO) - that is now in the recovery MCO phase - in a month's time. But that may not happen if the situation progresses in the wrong direction. Earlier today, our government has declared that MCO will be reimposed if the situation deteriorates again.

In the wee hours of this Sunday morning, it was announced that Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin would be making another announcement. As many have predicted, he has declared an extension to the conditional movement control order (CMCO) to be extended to 9 June 2020.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced on allowing two family members from the same household for essential grocery shopping during the movement control order (MCO) yesterday. But the Sabah government has not decided on following this relaxed measure by the federal government.

As we enter the 4th phase of the MCO, it has been confirmed that by multiple local newspaper agencies that the government will now allow two family members from the same household for essential grocery shopping. This amendment was approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which will be in effect from now onwards until 12 May (until further notice).

PDRM recently announced that you can apply online for interstate travel using the Gerak Malaysia app during this current MCO period. They’ve also just announced the time table for interstate travel for each state from 1 May 2020 to 3 May 2020. Those looking to travel interstate can apply now until 29 April 2020.

So now that we know the Movement Control Order has been extended (again) to 12 May 2020, we won't be surprised if our government decides to extend it again. Back in March, we reported that the Malaysia Armed Forces planned to use flying drones to assist in patrolling the streets during this MCO period. Looks like they really mean it and starting today, the drones will be deployed as aerial surveillance to monitor the naughty boys and girls who disobey the law.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced for those who are still at their hometowns that want to travel back to urban areas can start registering online and wait for approvals.
