We may have gotten a sneak peek at some of the phone (1)’s spec before the official announcement date of 12 July 2022. Spotted on Geekbench 5 listing, it looks like the first smartphone by Nothing is a mid-range offering based on the processor used.

Partnering with StockX, Nothing will be selling the first 100 phone (1) via a DropX Exclusive Auction on the platform, whereby the devices will be sold to the highest bidders. According to the StockX website announcing the collaboration, the first 100 Nothing smartphones will be serialised from 1 to 100, making them unique to each individual who managed to secure the device.

So just a few hours ago, the Nothing brand has released a short teaser and it will be about a new livestream event. In the clip, it seems that Carl Pei himself will be hosting the show and quite possibly, a new smartphone device.

Last year, Carl Pei came back into the scene with the brand called Nothing. Its first product was the Nothing ear (1), but it was soon rumoured that the company had more up its sleeve. A smartphone is expected to be one of them, and it might launch this year as predicted.

In 2020, Carl Pei left OnePlus to start his own company. It was then revealed in January 2021 to be the company called Nothing, which has since launched its first product - the Nothing ear (1). Now, the company has confirmed the number of products in development.

Nothing, a tech startup built by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, might be ready to launch a smartphone next year. If you haven't heard, the startup gets funded by big names like iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and YouTuber Casey Neistat. Besides that, it has also recently debuted its first product, Nothing ear (1), in Malaysia.

At the end of January, it was revealed that Carl Pei, the former OnePlus co-founder revealed his new startup brand called "Nothing". Not much information was given but it appears that their first products would be a pair of wireless earbuds. Now it seems that they may make and expand a new ecosystem with Essential.

After leaving OnePlus, the co-founder has found himself another probably-going-to-be huge thing that he can focus on to continue his journey in the industry. Last month, Carl Pei has announced the name of his new startup and it's called Nothing. At that time, he didn't mention anything about the products that the brand will be making, but now it has been revealed that the first product will be a pair of wireless earbuds.
