Oppo R7 Plus high-end version with 4GB RAM announced for up to RMB 3299 (RM2191)

Weibo has announced a new Oppo R7 Plus high-end version and it’s on pre-order sale right now at the Oppo China website. The gold coloured full metal device has two different prices - the China Unicom version for RMB 2999 (RM1992.17) and RMB 3299 (RM2191.45) for the international model.

Compared with the Oppo R7 Plus, both devices are quite similar in many areas. For one, they both have the same Snapdragon 615 chip + octa-core 1.5GHz CPU and Adreno 405 GPU, 6-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 resolution, 13MP main camera + 8MP front camera, hybrid SIM slot, Color OS 2.1 (based on Android 5.1 Lollipop) and a 4100 mAh battery tech specs. The only difference is that the R7 Plus high-end version has 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, instead of the R7 Plus’s 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. Also, the China Unicom model sports a MediaTek MT6795 processor.

OPPO R7 Plus vs Honor 7 vs Meizu MX5 comparison

The OPPO R7 Plus was recently launched in Malaysia yesterday at a rather high price of RM1998. Despite the flagship-level pricing it shares similar features with some other recently launched smartphones. These features include a full metal body, fingerprint scanner, laser autofocus and dual SIM 4G LTE which can also be found in the Huawei Honor 7 and Meizu MX5. Granted, it's 6-inch display is the largest of the three and it packs in 32GB of storage, but the larger size does mean that the R7 Plus is also the heaviest at 203g. Both the Honor 7 and Meizu MX5 are lighter and in the case of the Meizu MX5 thinner as well. Technically, none of the three are currently available but the OPPO R7 Plus is coming on pre-order for 11 July 2015 in the next few days. Price-wise the Meizu MX5 beats them all with 1800CNY (RM1081) but this is for the 16GB storage version. Strangely enough, the most expensive OPPO R7 Plus packs in the least powerful processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, a processor that we see more often in midrange offerings. The rumoured OPPO R7 and a larger OPPO R7 Plus version have been officially announced for 2499 CNY (RM1451) and 2999 CNY (RM1741) respectively. These tech specs include a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 3GB RAM, 13MP F2.2 rear camera and 8MP F2.4 front camera.
