It’s no secret that Malaysian automotive company Proton is working on its very 1st electric vehicle (EV) and it looks like an announcement on the matter is imminent. In fact, Proton has been taking to its official social media accounts to tease its EV-related event taking place on 12 June.

Recently, Malaysia’s Proton CEO, Li Chunrong said that Proton could be coming out with their first electric vehicle or EV “very soon”. Whether or not this means we could see said Proton EV appear commercially in 2024 or 2025 has yet to be revealed, so there are obviously no exact Malaysia release dates just yet. 

Proton Holdings Bhd has announced that it may accelerate the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) suitable for Malaysian consumers as early as 2025. Previously, the national car manufacturer set a target for 2027 but has since expedited its projection.
