With 5G technology picking back up its feet to the tech world, Qualcomm was secretly working on a new chipset all this while. Introducing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G chipset, it will be the first 600-series that is integrated with 5G technology.

At the end of this year, we will be getting the next flagship chipset from Qualcomm. Apart from being excited about the chipset, there is also something else that would excite you even more and it's a smartphone feature that we've been waiting for quite some time. It is rumoured that smartphones that pack both Snapdragon 875 chipset and in-display front-facing camera are already in the works.

At the beginning of the year, we saw the news that OPPO will be manufacturing chipsets to be used on their own devices. The process of making a chipset takes a long time and great effort, so it might have to be a while before OPPO's chipset gets to meet the world. However, it is said that the company is now speeding up the process because of the US sanctions that happened between the US and Huawei.

Roughly a year since Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon X55 modem, the company has now revealed that its new Snapdragon X60 modem will be launching in early 2021. This is the first 5G modem chip that is built on the 5nm manufacturing process, with incredible download and uploads speeds.

Many of you must have heard the news Apple is planning to make its own 5G modems in the future. With that being said, the company might not be relying on Qualcomm anymore to support their 5G devices after the contract ends. Now, a similar case is happening to OPPO too. Instead of a 5G modem, the smartphone manufacturer is heading to something big, which is to develop its own smartphone chipset.
