Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook today announced that foreign vehicles entering Malaysia from Singapore will soon require the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) RFID tag. He added that the VEP system, originally introduced in 2019, will be fully enforced at the Johor Causeway and Malaysia-Singapore Second Link starting 1 October.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced that 12 more Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology lanes will be added by PLUS Expressway Berhad by mid-April this year. This is following complaints by highway users that a lack of RFID lanes is causing congestion at toll plazas.

Touch ’n Go (TNG) Group and Shell Malaysia has announced the expansion of the use of new cashless radio-frequency identification (RFID) solutions in Malaysia. Currently available at 88 Shell stations nationwide, both companies say that they are expecting 200 Shell stations to be equipped with TNG RFID for purchasing fuel by the end of 2022.

However, things might get better soon as new RFID tolls along the Hutan Kampung route to Sungai Dua come equipped with a technology that enables a smoother RFID experience, compared to the previous version.

It seems that PLUS Expressway Berhad has recently announced that they will be closing Smart Tag lanes at 9 tolls in the north and they’ll be converting these closed lanes into RFID lanes in the near future. But that’s not all, PLUS will also be giving away up to 1500 RFID fitments for those who who are interested in getting RFID for their car.
