  • U Mobile launches 4G LTE for almost all users

U Mobile launches 4G LTE for almost all users

As teased earlier, U Mobile has finally launched 4G LTE on their networks. Offering up to 75Mbps speeds the service currently covers Bandar Sunway, Berjaya Times Square, Puchong and Taman Molek, Johor Bahru. While the coverage areas are still rather limited, U Mobile have done good on their claim of 4G for all by opening it up to Prepaid, Postpaid and Broadband users. This means you don't need to get a new 4G LTE SIM card to get on U Mobile's 4G LTE network. As long as you have an LTE capable device and a U Mobile SIM all you need to do is send 'LTE ON' to 28118. • Rumours: Samsung to make 1.5 million affordable Galaxy Note 3 Lite phablets?

Rumours: Samsung to make 1.5 million affordable Galaxy Note 3 Lite phablets?

While rumours about a more affordable Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite have already circulated, supposedly due to a cheaper LCD screen, other tech specs have leaked out regarding the Note 3 Lite. This includes screen size which may be 5.7-inches along with a lower-end 8MP rear camera as opposed to the 13MP rear camera on the current Samsung Galaxy Note 3. According to some other rumours, Samsung has already started production of the Galaxy Note 3 Lite, with the production goal to be 1.5 million Note 3 Lite units by the end of February 2014. Other features that we could see being used in the Note 3 Lite is the PLS-LCD screen along with a metal mesh layer, both of which are Samsung technologies that are designed to reduce production costs while enabling a more sensitive stylus without having to use a digitizer. Rumours indicate that we could see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite at the MWC Expo 2014 which is due at the end of February 2014. However, do remember that this is also a rumour so take everything mentioned here with a generous pinch of salt.

  • ZeroLemon 10000 mAh Tri-Cell Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with NFC

ZeroLemon 10000 mAh Tri-Cell Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with NFC

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 already offers a good 3200 mAh battery for about 1 and a half worth of battery life, there will be some who want more than that, which is what the ZeroLemon 10000 mAh Tri-Cell Extended Battery case does. As the name suggests, it basically replaces the Note 3 3200 mAh battery with a much larger 10000 mAh battery. However, because it is so much larger, the back casing has to be replaced with the ZeroLemon custom back casing. Acccording to ZeroLemon this back casing not only comes with NFC support, it also has a double polycarbonate ans thermoplastic polyurethane layer for extra protection. This also means that the phablet becomes a whole lot thicker and loses the artificial leather backside that first came with the Note 3.  Despite the extra thickness, there is still space to put the S Pen stylus and even a clip-on belt holster. Priced at $59.99 (RM193) the battery case should extend battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 up to a week from a single charge and is compatible with all versions of the phablet. No news on Malaysia release dates but keep an eye out for it at our sister site of MobileMegaMall.com and the sellers there should have it or something similar soon.

Samsung Galaxy J officially launched in Taiwan, coming to Malaysia soon?

The Samsung Galaxy J was officially launched in Taiwan recently, bearing top tech specs with a metal casing. While it was initially thought to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 thanks to a rather vague teaser video, it does offer a number of tech specs which include those from the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. This includes a 5-inch Full HD 1080p Super AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM and 13MP camera in a casing with a brushed metal backside. Sources indicate that it will be sold from TWD21900 (RM2370) unlocked and can be bought in Red and White. While there is still no news yet about specific Malaysia release dates or pricing, the official Taiwan announcement indicates that we could soon see a more global roll out for this smartphone which was formerly only sold in Japan.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy J going to Taiwan, could be coming to Malaysia next

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy J going to Taiwan, could be coming to Malaysia next

The Samsung Galaxy J used to be a Japan-exclusive smartphone and incorporated the tech specs and features of both the Samsung Galaxy S4 along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. These tech specs included a Snapdragon 800 processor and chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB microSD, 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 13MP rear camera, 2600 mAh battery and even added on water and dust proofing as well. According to Taiwanese press, this hybrid Galaxy J smartphone is going to Taiwan with an announcement due on 9 December 2013. A release in Taiwan for what was originally an exclusive smartphone could mean that it would be released globally as well, eventually reaching Malaysia. No specific Malaysia release dates were available at the time though, but stay tuned and we'll keep you updated.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 officially gets 6 colours

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 officially gets 6 colours

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet now has 6 official colour options to choose from. While we initially reported on the Rose Gold colour option, Samsung have come out with a White Rose Gold option and a Black Rose Gold colour option in addition to the new Red colour option. Add on the existing Black, Pink and White colour options and you have a total of 6 colours to choose from for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet. Tech specs and features for the phablet remain the same though. Unfortunately, Malaysian users may have to wait a while as these colour options may only be released in China starting from December 2013. Malaysian release dates are expected to be in early 2014.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite coming at MWC 2014?

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite coming at MWC 2014?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the latest and greatest phablet in Samsung's pioneering phablet range, but if rumours are true, we may soon see some less premium versions coming in 2014. Supposedly due for announcement at MWC 2014 which happens between 24 and 27 February 2014, the rumours indicate that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite or SM-N7505 may come in 2 versions, one with a 5.49-inch display and a 5.7-inch display. Both versions will use LCD screens instead of Super AMOLED which could mean that they are cheaper or have lower resolutions. Other tech specs include an 8MP rear camera and a standard plastic back cover instead of the current artificial leather back cover. These downgrades will allow the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite to be priced at a lower price point. In related news, another Samsung Lite product rumoured to appear at the MWC 2014 is the Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite or GT-I9060 which offers a similar 5-inch display, 1.2gHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and 5MP rear camera. No specific pricing or Malaysia release dates were available at the time but both Lite products should be more affordable than their more premium versions.

  • Red and rose gold Samsung Galaxy Note 3 coming to Argentina and eventually Malaysia

Red and rose gold Samsung Galaxy Note 3 coming to Argentina and eventually Malaysia

It seems that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may soon get some new colour options. This time around they are appearing first at Samsung Argentina where the new colours were revealed as red and rose gold. The red colour option will be available within the first week of January 2014 while the rose gold colour option will be available in Argentina in week 3 of January 2014. Samsung will then make both colour options available globally and we should then see these options available in Malaysia sometime in or after week 4 of January 2014. Malaysia pricing should be more or less the same. Check out the pics in this article for yourself.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S5 coming with Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 + more leaked tech specs

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S5 coming with Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 + more leaked tech specs

And the Samsung Galaxy S5 rumours continue to pile up. This time around it also concerns the Samsung Galaxy Gearsmartwatch which was initially released with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. In line with that, rumour mongers are saying that we may see the next generation Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch announced alongside the Samsung Galaxy S5. While we're not too thrilled about another Bluetooth companion accessory (we're still hoping for a standalone watch phone) rumours indicate that the Gear 2 could be thinner by about 15% to 20% compared to the original Gear. It would be great if the price was dropped and the battery life improved but a thinner smartwatch could also mean a smaller battery. In related news, more Samsung Galaxy S5 tech specs and features were leaked as well with both plastic and metal versions. Asides from the already mentioned rumours of either the Snapdragon 805 or a 64-bit Samsung Exynos Octa powering the S5, rumours are also saying the S5 could come with a 4000 mAh battery. Personally, we're not sure where Samsung would stick such a large battery unless it is a moulded non-removable kind but we're looking forward to next year sometime in January or February 2014 when the Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to make an appearance.

  • Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 officially announced with bigger 5.25-inch screen

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 officially announced with bigger 5.25-inch screen

When the Samsung Galaxy Grand first came out, it offered users a mid-range smartphone with average processor and a big but rather low resolution screen. Nearing the end of 2013, Samsung have officially announced the Galaxy Grand 2 which not only packs in a better processor but also a marginally bigger screen. This time around the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 packs in a 5.25-inch screen with a bit more respectable resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. In terms of looks it now has a plastic artificial leather-like backing just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Other tech specs and features have also received an upgrade with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage with up to 64GB microSD support, an 8MP AF rear camera with LED flash, a 1.9MP front camera and a much larger 2600 mAh battery. No 4G LTE support but it does have a GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-SIM and a couple of S applications like S Health and S Translator. The Grand 2 measures in at 146.9 x 75.3 x 8.9mm and 163g. It should come running Android 4.3 in black, pink or white. No news about Malaysia release dates or pricing but we expect the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 to come soon.
