Other companies like Meizu, OPPO, Huawei and even Apple have been reported to jump on the bandwagon.

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Note 6 might not come with a double-curved screen?

Samsung may be releasing their next generation Galaxy Note series the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 sometime in August 2016 (as they did so for the previous versions as well). Reports suggest that Samsung created two prototypes of the Galaxy Note 6 during the testing phase and will select only one of them for the official release. One of the prototypes features a double-curved screen, while the other prototype houses a flat display. Tech specs for both of the devices are identical though.

  • Rumours: Samsung's first foldable flexible display device coming in January 2015?

Rumours: Samsung's first foldable flexible display device coming in January 2015?

Samsung have forged ahead as the leader in flexible display devices with the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge+ but rumours now indicate that we could see a device with a flexible display that can be folded in January 2016. Following Samsung's previous flexible display timeline, 2016 and 2017 should be the year that such devices come to light. It isn't the first time such rumours have come out nor will it be the last but since it does follow the internal timeline document we expect it to be somewhat accurate. Nonetheless, do take this with a good dose of salt. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details but we expect it to be exorbitantly expensive based on previous pricing of the Galaxy Note Edge which was the first device with a bended curved display.

Dual-edge Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge officially announced

Finally, the YOUM flexible smartphone with dual-edge bended display makes an appearance with the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Featuring a metal frame with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 backside, the Galaxy S6 Edge looks something awesome. However, while it does sport an edge to edge, dual-edge design, neither of said side touchscreens are as functional as the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. True, you can get a clock but that's about it. Other tech specs include a 64-bit 1.8GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB storage, a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with 2K resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a 16MP f/1.9 aperture rear camera and 5MP front camera. Granted, the Galaxy S6 Edge does not offer IPx7 water proofing or an external microSD slot but like the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge also has a much streamlined TouchWiz interface. Despite being slower than the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge is expected to cost $750 (RM2722) or so and comes with a single-touch fingerprint scanner. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details but it could come with the Galaxy S6 in April 2015.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge GeekBench reveals true power of Exynos 5420?

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge GeekBench reveals true power of Exynos 5420?

Rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge have been making the rounds on the Internet for quite some time now. The latest leak indicates that the upcoming flagship device will be the most powerful handset that will be available in the market for quite some time. A recent entry on GeekBench shows that the S6 Edge with the model number SM-925 scores more than any other smartphone in the multi-core test. The device scored an impressive 5077 points in the test, which is much higher than the current leader, the Apple iPad Air 2 with 4532 points. Clearly, the octa-core Exynos 7420 chip is much better than any other SoCs that we have seen to date. Even in the single-core test, the device managed to score 1492 points. Only the Apple iPhone 6 PlusiPhone 6 and the powerful NVIDIA Tegra K1 poweredNexus 9 scores better than the Exynos 7420 powered Galaxy S6 Edge in this test. The Samsung flagship was also spotted on AnTuTu recently where it scored over 60000 points, much better than any other phone in the market. With latest rumors indicating that Samsung may redesign its laggy TouchWiz UI, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge flagship may turn out to be a great device. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has finally made it to the Malaysian market for RM2999. You can check out our initialhands-on with the Galaxy Note Edge as well

The Note Edge offers the same features as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, right down to the improved S-Note, photo note and Air Command menu. However, it's extra curved strip of touchscreen adds on a row of customizable buttons, a notification center when you're watching or doing something else on the main screen and acting as the cover window to help save energy when you have the cover on. In short, it acts like an independant or extra screen for the Note Edge. It is a known fact that production of the Note Edge is limited, so if you want it, you'd better get it while you can.
