Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ inboxing video puts everything together

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is the latest dual curved display to come from Samsung and sports a larger 5.7-inch 2K display. It also takes a step up from previous plastic Samsungs with the Galaxy S6 edge use of metal and glass for a more premium feel. Like a few other Samsung devices before this, Samsung have since released the inboxing video for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ where everything is put together and boxed. Check it out for yourself in this article.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ bumps up the screen size to a 5.7-inch 2K display

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ bumps up the screen size to a 5.7-inch 2K display

As expected, Samsung have unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ smartphone at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event. Bearing the same dual-curved screen on both sides the Galaxy S6 edge+ bumps up the screen size to a larger 5.7-inch 2K display. As with the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 edge+ does not pack in a microSD slot but ups the storage options to 32GB and 64GB along with 4GB of RAM and the latest and greatest Samsung Exynos 7420 processor. Camera tech specs remain the same with a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization along with a 5MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture. It also has 4G LTE Cat 9 connectivity with NFC and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) to accomodate the upcoming Samsung Pay feature. Again like the Note 5, the Galaxy S6 edge+ also packs in quick wireless charging but the wireless charger does not come bundled. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details but again the Galaxy S6 edge+ will be released in the US from 21 August 2015. As such we expect the Galaxy S6 edge+ to make an appearance in Malaysia by the end of the month.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5 officially announced in glass and metal

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 officially announced in glass and metal

After months of rumours, Samsung have officially announced their Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phablet for public consumption. Gone is the artificial leather backside to be replaced with a very Galaxy S6-like glass and metal back and thinner profile. Featuring a new 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 2K or QHD resolution, the new Note 5 packs in the same S Pen but it can now be auto ejected. As rumoured, it also packs in tech specs that include the latest Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, 4GB RAM, 16GB / 32GB storage options, a 16MP rear camera with wide f/1.9 aperture, optical image stabilization and auto real-time HDR along with a 5MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture and a fingerprint sensor. There are obvious sacrifices to this new look as the battery is now a smaller 3000 mAh and there is no option for any microSD slot. On the other hand, it is one of the first smartphones to have quick wireless charging with a 2 hour charge time. No Malaysia release date or pricing details yet but it is expected to arrive in the US on 21 August 2015. We expect the Malaysia release to be within the same month of August 2015.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ QWERTY keyboard cover appears

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ QWERTY keyboard cover appears

With just days ahead from being announced, a QWERTY keyboard cover for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ has appeared. Featuring a full QWERTY keyboard with physical buttons, the design thankfully doesn't rip off any of the other obvious QWERTY keyboard makers and appears to be priced around $63 (RM247). While the keyboard cover should offer users of the curved dual screen smartphone a more concise thumb typing experience, it also offers a look at the larger 5.7-inch display of the Galaxy S6 edge+. It does not mention any other tech specs of the smartphone, but it is expected to be announced in the next few days at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on 13 August 2015. No details yet on Malaysia release dates for the Galaxy S6 edge+ or this keyboard accessory, but we should know more soon.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 renders leaked?

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 renders leaked?

Press renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 smartphones have appeared, apparently leaked by @evleaks. Both are expected to be announced during the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event on 13 August 2015. While the tech specs for the Galaxy S6 edge+ looks to be the same as the Galaxy S6 edge, the edge+ is rumoured to come with a larger 5.7-inch display. Tech specs for the Note 5 on the other hand are rumoured to include a Samsung Exynos 7422 processor and as usual will come with an S Pen stylus. The leaked pics certainly look official and @evleaks does have a good record for such things so you only need to take a small pinch of salt with this rumour. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but we expect either one or both devices to arrive in Malaysia sometime in August 2015 due to previous releases.

  • Samsung Galaxy Unpacked happening on 13 August 2015, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 coming?

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked happening on 13 August 2015, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 coming?

Samsung have officially sent out the invites for a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event dated for 13 August 2015. Like most other invites this one hints at a device with a curved display which could be the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could also make an appearance as well. While the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to feature the same Samsung Exynos 7420 processor as the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge but with higher clock speeds and 4GB of RAM. Tech specs for the Note 5 include Samsung Exynos 7422 processor, a 5.7-inch 2K display and a fingerprint sensor. No pricing details or specific Malaysia release dates but we expect it to be near the end of August 2015 as release times in Malaysia have generally been from 2 weeks to a month from the international release date.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 coming early with 4GB RAM?

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 coming early with 4GB RAM?

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is coming soon, that much is inevitable, but while it usually arrives in September a day or two before the IFA rumours say that it come as early as August and that it will come with 4GB of RAM. Other tech specs aren't really included but we assume that since the Galaxy S6 is the latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 5 will probably borrow certain features like the better 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. It will likely feature a 5.7-inch 2K display with Samsung S-Pen stylus support. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but we expect it to come soon if it actually does come in August next month.

  • Huawei Honor 7 vs Meizu MX5 comparisons

Huawei Honor 7 vs Meizu MX5 comparisons

Announced at around the same time, the Huawei Honor 7 and Meizu MX5 share a number of similar features such as an all metal body, more than 5-inch sized full HD display, fingerprint scanner and 20MP rear cameras. Neither are currently available here in Malaysia yet but at 1800 CNY (RM1081) the Meizu MX5 is priced lower than Honor 7 which is going for 1999 CNY (RM1214). The Honor 7 is more compact due to its 5.2-inch display but the Meizu MX5 is thinner at 7.6mm and lighter at 149g despite the larger 5.5-inch display. Both come packing with the latest 64-bit processors, the Honor 7 with a HiSilicon Kirin 935 while the Meizu MX5 comes with a MediaTek MT6795 Helio processor.

The Honor 7 ups the Meizu MX5 with an 8MP front camera but the MX5 has a slightly higher 20.7MP rear camera compared to the 20MP rear camera on the Honor 7. The Honor 7 rear camera uses phase detection autofocus while the Meizu MX5 uses a laser autofocus. Which autofocus is better? Well, the debate on that still hasn't quieted down yet, especially if Huawei uses newer algorithms and sensors like in the Samsung Galaxy S6 which also uses phase detection autofocus. So far, there are still no details yet on which will be coming to Malaysia first, but both have a presence here so we would say in the coming months. Doogee Valencia2 Y100 Pro can crack walnuts with it's screen

While the Samsung Galaxy S6 may not be able to actually crack walnuts, if you want a phone that can do that, there is always the Doogee Valencia2 Y100 Pro. Other tech specs are rather midrange though with a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and a 5-inch strengthened display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Other tech specs and features include a 13MP rear camera with Sony sensor, 8MP front camera and 2200 mAh battery.
