Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch concept render shows up

Recently the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch got a trademark application along with a couple of patents giving a flexible look to Samsung's upcoming smartwatch. In view of this some renderers have come up with some glossy looking pics of how the smartwatch would look, based on these patents. The renders do look good but admittedly don't have a very official look to them. However, they could give some idea as to how the smartwatch may be personalized if the design does get adopted for the Samsung Galaxy Gear. For now, check out the pics of the smartwatch in colour and see if it's futuristicly flexible screen is the one you'd wrap around your wrist if you were ever in the market for a smartwatch.

Samsung Galaxy smartphones getting BBM, Samsung Africa confirms

While the official announcement from BlackBerry has yet to come out, Samsung Africa has confirmed that Samsung Galaxy smartphones and devices will soon get access to the BlackBerry Messenger app and service. While this definitely confirms that Samsung Africa users will get access, it should also be available globally to users in Malaysia as well and should be free to download for Samsung Galaxy users.

In essence, the app will allow Samsung Galaxy users to join the BBM social network, which includes BBM chats for up to 30 users at a time. Users can also share photos and voice messages.

Just like everyone else, Samsung are developing a smartwatch and according to trademark application forms drafted to the US patents office, it will be named the Samsung Galaxy Gear. In statements that are nearly impossible to miss the application states a wristwatch device for notifications much in the same way as other smartwatch devices. In related news, Samsung was also caught patenting some wristwatch designs including a flexible display model that curls up like a wristband. No news when it will be coming to Malaysia and other markets or for how much but we expect very soon, especially with the upcoming unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note III. For now, check out the various patent drawings and applications below for a look at what could be Samsung's new smartwatch.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note III Unpacked event on 4 September 2013

Samsung Galaxy Note III Unpacked event on 4 September 2013

After teasing the Samsung Galaxy Note III for months now, Samsung are finally setting a date for it's unveiling. This date is 4 September 2013 for their Samsung Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 in New York city. While Samsung haven't stated for sure that it will feature the Note III there, the wording itself is suspect as Samsung have said to "Note the date" rather than the usual "Save the date" wording. As expected, the event is a few days before the IFA 2013 expo.

While there have been a whole bucket-load of rumours surprisingly, no really concrete evidence has managed to leak. So far we have estimates that there will be 3 separate versions of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III, each with a different screen along with a different processor. This could include combinations of flexible screens with Snapdragon 800 processors or new Samsung Exynos 5420 processors along with 3GB worth of RAM. Other surprises in store for us could include a Samsung smartwatch which is what Sony did when they launched their Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Folder may come as Galaxy Golden

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Folder may come as Galaxy Golden

In a move which looks to revive the clamshell mobile phone form factor, Samsung are reportedly making a dual-screen clamshell flip phone which they may call the Samsung Galaxy Golden (perhaps in reference to the Golden age of clamshell-type mobile phones?). While it initially appeared as the Samsung Galaxy Folder and looked to be a dead prototype, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy Golden may actually arrive soon, perhaps for the South Korean market first. Tech specs for the Golden now include:

    • 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor
    • 2x 3.7-inch AMOLED display (800 x 480 resolution)
    • 2GB RAM
    • 1820 mAh battery
    • Android 4.2.2

The recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will apparently arrive in three new colours. These include the usually thematically named Scarlet Dawn, Bronze Autumn and Blue Iceberg, which basically means red, brown and blue. Check out the pics of the mini in all three colours below. Unfortunately, there isn't any mention when these colours will be available but the official announcement should be soon.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note II Snapdragon 600 refresh officially released in China

Samsung Galaxy Note II Snapdragon 600 refresh officially released in China

It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note II is also getting a refresh as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 powered version has made its way to China. Recently announced by China Mobile (which is the largest carrier in China) as the N7108D, the new version looks exactly the same as the old Samsung Galaxy Note II but has had a refresh in terms of the internal hardware. This includes FDD-LTE, TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA standards. The aforementioned chipset also upgrades the Mali 400 GPU with the much faster Adreno 320 while the 1.9GHz quad-core Krait 300 processor results in a benchmark that beats the older version with ease.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Folder flip-phone coming?

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Folder flip-phone coming?

Many would say that the clamshell or flip-phone form factor died a long time ago, but there are rumours that Samsung will be developing a clamshell Android smartphone in the not-so-far-off-future. The phone will be called the Samsung Galaxy Folder and be powered by Android. It will have a classic alphanumeric keyboard attached to a touchscreen. Tech specs for the Samsung Galaxy Folder include:

    • Dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
    • 800 x 480 pixel display
    • Supports LTE
    • Android 4.2.2
  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Duos shows up

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Duos shows up

The dual-SIM version of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has recently surfaced. Asides from the different pattern on the rear side, everything else about the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Duos seems to be identical with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. Tech specs for the Duos includes:

    • 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos processor
    • 1GB RAM
    • 8MP rear camera  + 2MP front camera
    • 6.3-inch LCD display (720p)
    • Android 4.2.2
    • Supports Dual-SIM
