    Aside from the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung also announced their Samsung Gear VR for the Galaxy Note 7. Powered by Oculus Rift VR, the Gear VR may be made for the Note 7 but it is also backward compatible with other Samsung devices like the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7. No Malaysia release dates but we expect it to be coupled with the Galaxy Note 7 when it arrives on 19 August 2016.

    Samsung Gear VR - It's already all around you

    Virtual reality has often been a subject of science fiction works from movies and novels, but Samsung's latest mind-boggling technology says otherwise, you can actually see more and more people using it especially in YouTube and Facebook lately. Virtual reality has never been this close but it's here now, and Samsung brought it to us even closer by releasing the Samsung Gear VR two weeks ago, with quite a reasonable price if one might add for RM459 (with GST). It's also compatible with Galaxy Note 5Galaxy S6S6 edge and S6 edge+ smartphones.

    Samsung Gear VR has finally arrived in Malaysia and it is the latest, improved and more ergonomic version of the Innovator Edition for the S6 which was launched earlier this year. Currently priced at RM459 (with GST), the Gear VR comes in Frost White colour, lightweight, wireless, and is compatible with Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+.

    “Samsung has been at the forefront of delivering mobile experiences and the new Gear VR is no exception. We see virtual reality as the next computing platform, and this time we are making immersive VR entertainment more accessible and affordable for customers with the introduction of our improved Gear VR,” said Mr Lee Jui Siang, Vice President, IT & Mobile Business Unit, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

Officially announced alongside the phablet, the Gear VR is a virtual reality headset that uses the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as the main display. Created in collaboration with the developers of the Occulus Rift virtual reality goggles, the headset offers a complete 360 degree view for a number of applications.
