  • Rumours: Another Samsung Galaxy F leak, coming in 2014?

Rumours: Another Samsung Galaxy F leak, coming in 2014?

The rumoured premium metal body Samsung Galaxy F just got another press render leak, again from serial leaker @evleaks. This time around, it is the full smartphone but instead of gold, it is a metallic silver colour. While the leak did not go into details many are expecting a 2K display on the upcoming smartphone or one that will provide a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S range of tablets already offer 2K displays so it seems very likely that that would be a feature in the next premium smartphone from Samsung. No Malaysia release dates yet but the Galaxy F is expected to arrive in 2014 perhaps in Q4. As always, do take this rumour with a good pinch of salt but stay tuned for more developments.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets offer the best displays for tablets yet, so says DisplayMate

Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets offer the best displays for tablets yet, so says DisplayMate

The recently launched Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablets have been tested by DisplayMate as the best displays on a tablet yet. For those who don't know, DisplayMate produces display calibration, evaluation and diagnostic products so they are experts when it comes to displays. For the Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets, tests included the screen performance, highest colour accuracy, lower screen reflectance and smallest brightness variation with viewing angles with the tablets getting the best in all these tests. While the tablets did score the best in the aforementioned tests, it didn't offer the same in terms of brightness but at 546 nits, this is still an impressive number. The new Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets are the first to pack in Super AMOLED screens of this size since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and should mark wider usage of Super AMOLED screens in other devices as well. For the record, the Apple iPad Air is rated as third best according to DisplayMate, but for a full tech spec comparison do check out our Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 vs Apple iPad Air comparison tool.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 hands-on (video included)

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 hands-on (video included)

We managed to check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 hands-on at the launch event yesterday and found that yes, these are indeed the thinnest and lightest tablets from Samsung we've seen and held yet. At just 298g the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 feels like a toy for it's size and while the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is a bit heavier at 467g it is still super light for how big and awesome looking the screens are on both tablets. Both come in dazzling white and titanium bronze, which more or less means white plastic with gold metallic trim and black plastic with gold metallic trim. The backside follows the same perforated design as the Samsung Galaxy S5. Build quality is very solid despite both feeling super light but we have to say that it felt more rounded than completely flat. The tablets are running Android 4.4.2 and as expected of them, the main feature is their Super AMOLED screens. Check out the pics and video in this article for yourself.
