    Today, Sony Mobile Communications has announced their own ‘Sony Xmas Wishes’ promotion that will be ongoing until 2 January 2017. For every purchase of selected Xperia smartphones, which are Xperia XZ, Xperia X Compact, Xperia X, Xperia XA, and the Xperia XA Ultra, consumers will be able to walk away with exciting gifts – just in time for Christmas and the New Year.

    According to the Sony Xperia Blog, Sony will update a number of devices right up to Android 6.0 Marshmallow without requiring users to download the Android 5.1 Lollipop update first. Unfortunately, there is no mention of any Malaysia release dates or any specific dates as to when each Xperia device will be getting said update. We expect said updates to come in the next few months but while you wait, check out the list below to see if your Sony Xperia device is listed (Dual SIM devices are also included where possible).

    Sony Mobile recently launched their new Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual and Xperia M5 Dual for Malaysia. The Xperia C5 Ultra Dual features a large 6-inch FHD display with 13MP Exmor RS and LED flash front and back cameras for RM1399. Also for the midrange is the Xperia M5 Dual for RM1599 with a waterproof full metal body, Mediatek Helio X10 processor and 21.5MP Exmor RS with Hybrid AF rear camera and 13MP front camera for RM1599. LINE users can also enter a special contest on the Sony Mobile Malaysia LINE Official Account at "Sony Mobile MY" and answer the questions to win a brand new Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual and Sony Xperia M5 Dual. Both are available exclusively on 11street.my via pre-orders with benefits from 17 August 2015 to 31 August 2015 where the first 200 customers can receive complimentary gifts worth up to RM250. A contest to win a device and other gifts is also available on the 11street Facebook page.

    Sony Malaysia has already sent out the invites showing that the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual and Xperia M5 Dual are both coming to Malaysia on 25 August 2015. Announced previously, the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual is the larger 6-inch full HD display smartphone of the two that offers a slim and 8.2mm thin design with 13MP Exmor RS cameras for both the front and back. The Sony Xperia M5 on the other hand packs in a 20.5MP rear camera with Hybrid AF, up to ISO 3200 and video and image stabilization. The M5 will also feature an IP65 rated waterproof metal body, the latest 64-bit 2GHz Helio X10 MediaTek processor, 3GB RAM and a 5-inch FHD display. No details yet on pricing information but both are the dual-SIM variety and we'll be on hand to check them out next week, so stay tuned for that.

    Sony announces the waterproof Xperia M5 with 20.5MP rear camera + Hybrid AF

    Sony recently announced their new Sony Xperia M5 featuring an IP65 rated waterproof metal body, 21.5MP Exmor RS rear camera with Hybrid AF F2.2 and ISO up to 3200 along with a 13MP Exmor RS with AF front camera. Other tech specs are equally impressive wtih a 64-bit 2GHz Helio X10 MediaTek processor, 3GB RAM, 5-inch FHD display and 16GB storage with up to 200GB microSD card. While it packs in 2-day battery life, the standout features remain the cameras with video and image stabilization and the aforementioned Hybrid Auto Focus for 0.2s fast focusing shots. ISO 3200 should also let it see better in the dark. It will come in single SIM and dual SIM variants but no news yet which one will be coming to Malaysia. Again, no Malaysia release dates or pricing details just yet but it is expected to go for about $395 (RM1534).
