OnePlus One smartphone scores big on AnTuTu

OnePlus has promised us a smartphone with some awesome hardware built in. These tech specs include a Snapdragon 800 processor which is the same as the current range of flagship smartphones now. Surprisingly, the OnePlus One smartphone has managed to outdo many of these smartphones with an AnTuTu Benchmark score of 35715, placing it above the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Malaysia release dates and pricing have yet to be revealed but it could go from $400 (RM1312) and be available from Q2 of 2014.

DiGi release new device bundles for DG SmartPlan

In line with their new 4G LTE enabled DG SmartPlan, DiGi have also revealed new device bundles for the Motorola Moto G, Alcatel One Touch Scribe Easy, Huawei Ascend G510, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro, Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia C, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Sony Xperia Z1. These include the DG SmartPlan 50, DG SmartPlan 78, DG SmartPlan 108 and DG SmartPlan 148. Bear in mind that since these are postpaid plans you'll still have to sign up for the devices under either a 12-month or 24-month contract. However, DiGi have simplified this somewhat by having all contract device bundles under the DG SmartPlan set at 12-months while the other three plans are set at 24-month contracts. • Sony coming out with QX lens frames for tablets

Sony coming out with QX lens frames for tablets

The Sony DSC-QX series of wireless lens cameras initially had mounting frames for smartphones, and even then it could only fit the 5-inch and below sized smartphones. Sony recently added on a mounting frame for their Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet and are working on a mounting frame for tablets soon as well. While the tablet mounting frame is designed for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z it should be large enough to fit most 10.1-inch tablets. So far, there isn't any specific name or Malaysia release date for the tablet mounting frames but it is priced at 3675 Yen (RM120). We expect to find them in Malaysia soon, but probably after the Sony Xperia Z Ultra camera frame is available.

  • Samsung Galaxy Gear can now work with the Nexus 5

Samsung Galaxy Gear can now work with the Nexus 5

While the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch probably offers the most in terms of functionality for any smartwatch currently on the market one of it's main limitations was that it only works with certain Samsung smartphones. This short compatibility list included the Samsung Galaxy Note 3Note 2S4 and S3 with Android 4.3 firmware. However, this is no longer the case as Smart Watch Fans have come up with a guide showing how to make the Galaxy Gear smartwatch work with a Nexus 5 smartphone. It may require you to download some files, extract them and rename them, but there isn't any arduous programming or too-technical stuff to do to make it work. Do bear in mind that most of the apps work, except for S-Voice and Weather. Other smartwatch fans are saying that they have also made the Galaxy Gear work with the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, provided that it is the pure vanilla Google Edition version.

  • Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra dual officially announced, may be $545 (RM1788)

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra dual officially announced, may be $545 (RM1788)

Filling out their phablet range, Sony has officially anounced the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Both have huge 6-inch Triluminous displays at 720 x 1280 pixel resolutions with the only major difference being that the T2 Ultra dual has dual-SIM support. Other tech specs and features for the two phablets include a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage + microSD, 13MP rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, 1.1MP front camera with Exmor R sensor, NFC + LTE and a non-removable 3000 mAh battery. The phablet retains the slim monolithic design as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and looks quite good all in all. While it should eventually reach Malaysia there are still no specific Malaysia release dates. In terms of pricing, the device is said to be going for $545 (RM1788). While the processor isn't as top-notch as the other phablet device in the Sony Xperia range, the bigger screen and exceptional camera should make it a very tempting midrange device. For now, check out the video and images in this article.

  • Sony QX Lens camera case let's you use QX lens with Xperia Z1 Ultra

Sony QX Lens camera case let's you use QX lens with Xperia Z1 Ultra

Sony's Cybershot DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 wireless lens can improve photography immensely for almost any tablet or smartphone, provided the clip of the frame can fit. Since the clip can only reach 5-inches, this means a lot of larger phablets and tablets won't be able to clip the lens on, and this includes the Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet. For this reason, Sony have created a QX lens camera case allowing you to clip on either the DSC-QX10 or the DSC-QX100. At first the Sony QX Lens case will only be available in Hong Kong, but it should eventually reach Malaysia. The QX Lens case will be priced at 238 Hong Kong dollars (RM100) which doesn't sound too bad at all.

The first phablet and tablet to join the Google Play Edition ranks, the two devices will run Android 4.4 Kit Kat and get faster Android updates than other non-Google Play Edition devices. Tech specs for the LG G Pad 8.3 include an 8.3-inch Full HD display, 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.
