News & Reviews:   Xiaomi 12S Ultra Malaysia pre-order

That's right, it's a freaking camera lens attached to a smartphone there. A full-blown video released online in China, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is a concept device that Xiaomi and Leica have been working on for quite some time. There are no official announcements yet, but here's what we know so far.

It's a shame that Xiaomi only made the Xiaomi 12S series available in its home country. The devices featuring the Leica camera system will no doubt get as popular in other corners of the world as well. Earlier, rumours said that the 12S Ultra could eventually end up on the global stage. Until now, the CEO has promised us that "the next iteration of Ultra" will definitely get a global launch.

Last month, Xiaomi debuted its first smartphone series with the Leica camera system, Xiaomi 12S, in China. At the time, the Chinese company stated that it didn't have plans to bring the devices outside its home country. However, there might be a change of mind with this new information.

Xiaomi recently released the Xiaomi 12S Series, a range of smartphone known for its impressive camera specs, most notably the 12S Ultra with its Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor fine-tuned by Leica. While the series was a China-exclusive during launch, many are hoping that it will be released in Malaysia but alas, Xiaomi Malaysia has today confirmed that the device is sadly not coming to our shores.  

Previously, we reported that Xiaomi will be launching three new smartphones in an upcoming event this 4 July 2022, which are the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra. The latter in particular should be intriguing to fans as the company never actually released the 12 Ultra smartphone and now, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed why.

Xiaomi has finally revealed the launch date of the Xiaomi 12S series. The company is launching three devices on 4 July, including the vanilla Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra. Before that happens, it continues to drop more information regarding what to expect. Today, Xiaomi reveals that the Ultra variant will feature a 1-inch Sony IMX989 camera sensor.

Xiaomi has today confirmed that it will be holding a launch event for its 12S Series smartphones on 4 July 2022 at 7pm local time in China. Three new models are set to be unveiled during the event, including the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra.
