Today, our Minister of Transport of Malaysia Anthony Loke addressed the government's project on Open Payment for public transport in Malaysia. As such, they will implement the integration of MyDebit and Credit Cards as additional payment modes to the existing Touch 'n Go or Token cards.

Touch ’n Go (TnG) eWallet has revealed new changes to how it treats reloads using credit cards, whereby customers will be charged a 1% admin fee for all manual reloads above RM1000 starting this November. Furthermore, it will also remove the current option to either make a credit card reload transferable or non-transferable.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi today announced that the open payment system at MEX Highway’s Putrajaya toll plaza will undergo a public testing period beginning tomorrow (3 August). Essentially, this allows users to pay for tolls using debit or credit cards.

The Works Ministry today announced that road users in Malaysia can pay for tolls using credit or debit cards on 12 highways beginning September 2023. This is part of a new open payment system which allows for payment methods other than Touch ’n Go and RFID.

Previously, we reported on the Ministry of Transport’s (MOT) plan to allow users to pay for public transportation in our country with debit and credit cards. Further breaking Touch ’n Go’s monopoly is the Works Ministry’s decision to allow toll payments via the same methods.
Well, we may get an announcement for when this open payment system would be implemented in both soon. This after Pay with Debit recently teased the matter via its official social media accounts.

Maybank has extended their Kill Switch service to also include Credit and Charge cards on top of your existing MAE account and access. As before, you can access the Kill Switch feature via the “…” symbol in the MAE app or go to Settings > Security > Kill Switch on the site.
