Today, AmBank has officially expanded Apple Pay support to include its debit cards after years. To refresh your memory, Apple Pay on AmBank was previously restricted to credit cards only. But this move finally allows AmBank users to link their debit cards to Apple devices, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and iPad.

CIMB recently issued an important alert for debit cardholders: its myDebit network will briefly go offline this weekend for scheduled maintenance.  The affected time slots are: 16 and 17 August (Saturday and Sunday) at midnight until 8 AM and 5 AM, respectively.

In case you missed it, commuters can now use their debit and credit cards to pay for tokens at selected vending machines. The locations that will support these new payment methods are at the Kajang MRT line, with the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) and Bukit Bintang stations, said RapidKL.

Usually, you need a Touch 'n Go and RFID cards to pass the Penang Bridge. Well, PLUS Malaysia announced that Penang Bridge users can now make toll transactions using bank debit and credit cards. 

If you have been eyeing the GX Card for a while, you'd be pleased to know that the physical GX Bank Debit cashback card is now available and is rolling out as we speak. Applying for it is easy as it's done on the GX Bank app itself.

A few days ago, we wrote about the GXBank app that is available to download as Malaysia's first digital bank. While there's a waiting list, the company just announced that there will be a new GXBank debit card coming soon.

Previously, we reported on the Open Payment system for public transport in Malaysia, whereby for KTM Komuter, the system was touted to be operational by mid-November. Lo and behold, the system has been operational at Komuter Klang Valley and North since 11 November, with KTMB also clarifying how the system works for debit cards.

Following the implementation of the open payment system at MEX, NPE, BESRAYA and several other highways, another expressway is now joining in and accepting payment via debit or credit cards - The Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH). Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi today announced that the open payment system at MEX Highway’s Putrajaya toll plaza will undergo a public testing period beginning tomorrow (3 August). Essentially, this allows users to pay for tolls using debit or credit cards.

The Works Ministry today announced that road users in Malaysia can pay for tolls using credit or debit cards on 12 highways beginning September 2023. This is part of a new open payment system which allows for payment methods other than Touch ’n Go and RFID.
