Based on a study done by speedtest.net, Malaysia is currently in 3rd place when it comes to the national average download speed with Thailand and Singapore coming in at 2nd and 1st place respectively. To go into more detail, Malaysia’s download speed averaged around 90.88Mbps while upload speed is somewhere around the ballpark of 50Mbps in H2 2020.

The new Wi-Fi 6 standard has recently been unveiled which is not only backwards compatible with previous Wi-Fi standards, but it is also able to achieve up to 1.5Gbps based on a test conducted by CNET. To put it into perspective, CNET managed to download all 22 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in 4k resolution in less than 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Based on a statement by cnet.com, the development of the new Wi-Fi 7 standard is currently underway which promises up to 30Gbps in speeds over Wi-Fi connection. Not only will it be significantly faster compared to today’s standards, but it will also be broadcasted over 6GHz frequency which was first introduced in Wi-Fi 6.
