One of the things we always encounter in Malaysia is scams. Some are through phone calls or emails, while others try to trick us via social media platforms. And of the many popular platforms, Facebook seems to be the most scam-ridden.

By now, you should know scams in Malaysia have been quite prominent. Not only are we getting scam messages from our mobile phones, but they also exist in Facebook Ads which poses a huge problem. To address this problem, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil is going to take action.

When it comes to advertising online, most systems let you set a budget and choose how you want your ad to be presented. For Facebook, you do this with the Meta Business Suite. The platform is mostly based on software, which means bugs can occur.

During the mid of March, Meta announced that it will be shifting away from NFTs on both Facebook and Instagram. At the time, we didn't know when it would be removed but we have an official date. As shared by Ahmeh Ghanem, NFTs on Instagram will be deactivated on 11 April 2023.

As you know, Twitter is the first company with the concept of verified social media accounts. Meta decided to jump on the bandwagon and started testing its Meta Verified in Australia and New Zealand last month. Now, the company is ready for the service to go live.

If you recall, non-fungible tokens (NFT) were the rage that companies tried to capitalise on but were met with a lukewarm reception from the netizens. Last year, Meta wanted to integrate NFTs into its Facebook and Instagram platforms to help creators and it looks like it's not turning out so great.

Today, Facebook released a new statement about its performance this first quarter of the year. Besides talking about AI algorithm discovery, creators and monetization, the company also shared that it may bring back the Messenger app into Facebook like before.

WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature for group chats that would allow users to set an expiration date for the group. Aptly named ‘Expiring Groups’, the feature was introduced on the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.5.0.70 update, meaning that it may end up in the full version of the app soon.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that the company is in the midst of testing AI-powered tools for its products. These would include AI-powered chats on its messaging platforms, WhatsApp and Messenger.

It looks like Meta is following in Twitter’s footsteps by introducing a paid verification service on its social media platforms Facebook and Instagram. Dubbed “Meta Verified”, the USD14.99 or ~RM66 on web and USD11.99 or ~RM53 on mobile monthly subscription service is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand this week.
