Sadly, Meta has announced that the rollout of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for Messenger and Instagram will get postponed to 2023. Therefore, it looks like there's still a long time to go before we get the highly demanded feature for the messaging services.

This was officially announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg at Connect 2021 and no, the Facebook social media platform won't change its name. From Facebook's newsroom, the Meta name change is a new direction that brings the company's apps and technologies under one new brand. 

During Facebook's Q3 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed some of the upcoming plans for the social media platforms. Out of them, one got our attention by mentioning that the company will shift their focus to young adults with "significant changes" applied to Facebook and Instagram.

If you recall, Instagram started working on direct posting from desktop browsers in May. Some beta testers got to access the feature in June, but since then we had no updates about it. Fortunately, the feature will be released soon.
