Previously, we reported on Grab potentially acquiring foodpanda Malaysia and several SEA markets as the latter’s owner, Delivery Hero is weighing its sale. Now, it looks like foodpanda’s sale is nearing closer, in fact, as early as December 2023.

The gig economy is trending in Malaysia lately. Interestingly, this is a global phenomenon and is not limited to Malaysia. That said, Grab Malaysia announced its commitment to improving the working standards for their employee today.

There have been quite a few friendly tensions between Malaysia and Singapore lately. As most of you know, Singapore has added six dates of concerts for Coldplay while Malaysia only has one. Then there's also Jocelyn Chia who crossed the line about MH370. And now, there's a drama going on between a Grab delivery partner and two Singaporean men.

In conjunction with International Women's Day two days ago, Grab Malaysia announced a new AudioProtect feature for the Grab app. Designed to further enhance the safety of its driver-partners and passengers, it's being rolled out in phases starting today. 

Yesterday, we reported that Grab Malaysia is implementing a new fare structure during peak hours in Klang valley which would make it more expensive when the ride is stuck in traffic. Now, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has responded to the price adjustments and announced that it would be looking into the matter.

Grab Malaysia today announced the launch of Grab Intercity, a new service that allows users to purchase bus and ferry tickets via the Grab app. The service has over 15,000 routes to purchase tickets for, including direct bus routes to Singapore.

Grab is set to launch a new brand called GrabFin which will combine Grab Financial Group’s (GFG) payments and financial services features. Announced in a statement yesterday, the new arm offers users a single entry point to access payment, investment and insurance services on the Grab application.

If you have subscribed to the new GrabUnlimited that was introduced nearly a month ago, you're in luck - Grab Malaysia just announced that the early birds who did will continue to pay just 1 sen/month for the next two months! Not only that but there will be more updates and promotions on the GrabUnlimited plan.

Update: The Grab app services are back online

If you can't seem to get a Grab driver at this hour, you're not alone. Grab Malaysia just posted that the servers are experiencing a service disruption at this very moment. From our end, we haven't tried using any of the services but it seems that the promotions on the homepage are missing entirely.

Recently, Grab Malaysia just introduced two new features called Near Me and Premium Delivery. The update is rolling out as we speak, with 'Near Me' available with lower delivery fees across the nation while the latter option allows customers to get their food at a faster rate.
