Based on a statement by huaweicentral.com, it seems that Huawei has started the development of a new 3nm Kirin processor which is expected to be available around the end of 2021. While not much is known in regards to which exact smartphone will come with the aforementioned chip, it does give us a better idea of what to expect from Huawei in the future.

The US sanctions on Huawei has been happening for quite a while and the situation is definitely not getting better anytime soon. Earlier, we have also seen the news that the President of United States Donald Trump has extended the ban until May 2021. Not only the company has lost access to Google services, there are also some other problems surfacing as well such as chip supply. It is said that HONOR (sub-brand from Huawei) is planning to turn to MediaTek for the supply of 5G SoCs in the future.

Based on a statement by eetimes.com, HiSilicon might be keen on supplying chipsets to manufacturers other than Huawei. It seems that the Shenzhen HiSilicon branch will be responsible for supplying chips to Huawei, while the Shanghai HiSilicon branch will focus solely on the open market.

In a move to make more revenue, Huawei has been reported to be selling its chipsets to 3rd parties which include competitor smartphone companies. The first chip that may be sold to the open market is their HiSilicon Balong 711 chipset.
