The 9th of August is a pretty important day for Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei. The company will be launching its largest global developers conference in China. What seems to be the main highlight of the event would the company’s OS, HongMeng. Many are speculating that the OS may be launched then. 

Previously, Huawei Malaysia held a Service Day from 31 May until 1 June for their Huawei customers for free. Due to popular demand, they are bringing it back once again for today and tomorrow across the nation! Just like before, customers will enjoy a free out of warranty labour charge, as well as a free phone disinfecting service and others.

Everyone knows Huawei and thanks to the recent trade war with the US government, Huawei's reputation has grown even more than before with support from the Internet. While US President Donald Trump recently said that Huawei could continue buying products from US companies, Larry Kudlow, National Economic Council chairman said that these “are selling products that are widely available from other countries ... This is not a general amnesty ... The national security concerns will remain paramount.” This means that Huawei will likely remain on the US Entity List and this was further confirmed with his comment “All that is going to happen is Commerce will grant some additional licenses where there is a general availability”.

During the G20 Summit, which was held in Osaka, Japan. The United States President Trump, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping, had agreed to resume trade talks between China and the United Sates of America. After a rather lengthy 80-minute discussion between the two leaders, the US President confirmed that the US would not impose the USD300 billion(~MYR1.2 trillion) tariffs on China for now.

The US government's ban on Huawei which forced Google to sever ties with Huawei have left many smartphone owners worried. Initially, Google had removed Huawei devices from their Android Q list but we’re beginning to see some Huawei devices making a comeback onto said list.

The biggest problem with launching a phone OS is not the technical bits but rather the building of the ecosystem. The OS would not be successful without apps on it and Huawei definitely sees this. As a step to overcome the problem, the Chinese manufacturer invites partners and developers to join the “Ark of Friends Circle” to help build a “fair, open, healthy and win-win” ecosystem. Huawei’s Ark Compiler is set to be officially open source starting this August. 

Looks like Huawei laptops will continue to work smoothly for users as both Microsoft and Intel confirm that they will be continuing their updates and support for the Chinese manufacturer. Both companies will be providing security updates for Huawei’s devices that come with Windows 10 and Intel processors. 

So this just came in, just an hour ago a local gadget dealer, DirectD just announced on their Facebook post that they will offer a full refund if the Google Apps and Playstore access stops working on your Huawei mobile and tablet devices. 

In case you missed it, the Huawei notebook lineup previously disappeared on Microsoft's online store last month due to the on-going trade war. Microsoft didn't give any comment on their actions, but it seems that they have put Huawei back again this week.
