Previously, we mentioned how Tiktok gathered over 325 million users in Southeast Asia. While this is understandable considering the app’s popularity, it has yet to rival Instagram. According to YPulse, Instagram’s popularity has grown in recent months. So how did this happen? What drives these generations here?

Today, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg finally announced that Threads will have a new Following feature update. It was confirmed on his Instagram broadcast channel, where Threads users can check out posts of people that they follow instead of random accounts. 

It's been more than a week since Threads by Instagram launched. As always, it was met with enthusiasm on how it would compete with Twitter. It even crossed over 100 million users in just five days but it seems that the hype has gone down considerably.

It's been almost a week since Threads launched and even until now, most of us have no clue what to do with the app. Although it's mimicking Twitter, its role is quite different from what we expect, at least according to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri.

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has revealed that Malaysians lost approximately RM302 million to online scams on Meta-owned platforms Instagram and Facebook. Moreover, the whopping loss amount is only for the period between January 2021 and June 2023.

While everyone is exploring how Threads work, some discovered that deleting your Threads account is not that simple. In the Supplemental Privacy Policy section, it is stated that “Your Threads Profile is Part of Your Instagram Account. Therefore, it may be deleted at any time by deleting your Instagram account”.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, Threads by Instagram has already reached over 30 million users on the first day which is quite a feat. That said, we wondered how would Twitter react to this and apparently, the company is threatening to sue Meta about it. 

If you have been keeping up, Meta just officially launched Threads as a direct competition to Twitter. The app is now available for download on both the Apple App and Google Play Store and here's what you should know about it.

At the end of June 2023, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said it will take legal action against Meta for not cooperating to remove scam ads on Facebook. But that has been resolved, as announced by our Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil. 

In case you didn't know, Meta has been secretly developing a rival app to Twitter called Threads. Well, it seems that we are getting the app earlier than expected as it has appeared on the Apple App Store. It's expected to launch on 6 July 2023 globally.
