As 3G continues to shut down to make way for 5G, there is a new announcement by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) about the progress. In line with the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA), the initial sunsetting for 3G in December 2021 has been extended to the end of March 2022.

You may have asked, "All these 5G phones, but where are the 5G networks?" If you recall, it was previously announced that 5G would be available in the federal areas by end of 2021. Now, we also have news on which state could be the first to get 5G access.

As many of you should know by now, our local telcos are shutting down 3G networks across the nation. This is in line with the National Digital Network (JENDELA) program that was launched by the Malaysian government in August last year.

Today, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad’s wholly-owned subsidiary, MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd (Astro) just announced a new joint partnership together. This initiative will have both parties deliver a wider broadband coverage and a better digital experience in Malaysia. This will be in line with the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) plan.

Yup, you can now check out your area if the signal strength is strong enough thanks to the newly launched JENDELA Map. By visiting the official webpage here, you can now go anywhere on the map and even make reports on the spot.

Yesterday on 15 April 2021, there was a second quarterly Jendela report by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). While it was a rather long report, sources have pointed out that the 4G LTE and internet network strength are still being criticized over the past few months.

Today, The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a new statement about prioritising Internet installation of communication services in priority areas. In order to fast track and resolve the issues of delays, they also listed out steps to ensure better service to the people.

We may no longer be able to complain about the lack of 4G coverage in the future. The government is planning to build a national digital network called Jalinan Digital Negara, otherwise known as Jendela, which aims to provide a central 4G mobile broadband network to populated areas.
