Maxis Bhd today in a statement announced that it’s ready to complete the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) share subscription agreement (SSA) process for the rollout of the second 5G network. Moreover, the telco company asserted that it’s ready to sign the shareholders agreement with DNB in accordance with the SSA’s terms.

Maxis today announced its all-new 5G Home WiFi plans which provide unlimited 5G connectivity for homes nationwide. Starting from just RM69 for 120GB of data, read on to find out more about the new plans.

The 5G network rollout in our country has been relatively successful, albeit not as straightforward as Malaysians would’ve preferred. Case in point, the government recently announced that it will move from a single 5G network to a dual model after the former’s coverage reaches 80% of populated areas.  

If you’re a Maxis user, then we have some bad news for you as you’d have to wait a bit longer to enjoy access to the 5G network in our country. This is following the telco’s announcement that it will postpone seeking its shareholders’ approval on the entry into the 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB).

If you haven’t already heard, 5G is slowly but surely taking over and Samsung is jumping on the bandwagon with the latest Samsung Galaxy S20 series. Now available across the nation, many authorized retailers and partners have geared up for the launch. However, Maxis is doing something never done before. At their KLCC Store, they have set up a 5G Live showcase where the public can test out the 5G speed demonstration, 100x Space Zoom, and Augmented Reality (AR) on these latest Samsung Galaxy devices.

Huawei and Maxis signed an agreement today on the provisioning of 5G Networks in Malaysia. It was witnessed by Yang Amat Berhormat Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia and was signed by Michael Yuan, Huawei Chief Executive Officer and Gokhan Ogut, Maxis Chief Executive Officer. Through the agreement Maxis hopes to achieve a robust 5G network with potential speeds reaching 10Gbps. 

Maxis recently announced that they are ready for 5G by building an advanced and intelligent network they call the A.I. Network. It utilizes 5G-ready infrastructure over a fibre-optic footprint to mobile base stations across Malaysia. Utilizing Next-Gen IP network architecture, the A.I. Network will self-optimise data traffic and self-heal by anticipating and rerouting traffic around potential problem areas, ensuring lag-free Internet and Always On connectivity.

After the news of implementing 5G connectivity in Putrajaya and Cyberjaya starting from April onwards, Maxis has announced that they have already started its first 5G live trials in Malaysia. The live trial will be conducted in Cyberjaya for six months so far, Maxis has managed to achieve a download speed of 3Gbps.

Maxis and Huawei have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at this year's Mobile World Congress to accelerate 5G in Malaysia. Looking to collaborate and cooperate on full-fledged 5G trials with end-to-end systems and services, the event saw Gokhan Ogut, CEO-designate and Morten Bangsgaard, Chief Technology officer for Maxis signing with  Guo Ping, Huawei Rotating Chairman, Jeffery Liu, Huawei President of the Southern Pacific Region, and Michael Yuan, CEO of Huawei Malaysia.
