The company didn't stop there as they are back with another new report about our average mobile data consumption and download speed experience during the original MCO period.

Opensignal is back again with another report and this time around, it's about analyzing mobile data consumption and experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. The report features many countries on their usage and Malaysia is included as well. If you've wondered how the rest of our Malaysian people handled mobile data consumption, read on below.

Just earlier this month, Opensignal named U Mobile as one of the most improved global networks in the Mobile Network Experience Global Awards (which most of you still can't believe, lol). With that, we wondered if the orange telco has shifted their position or not if compared with the other local telcos. Well, wonder no more - we now have the Malaysia Mobile Network Experience Report by Opensignal as of September 2020.

Just recently, Opensignal has just celebrated their 10th Year Anniversary and released a Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2020 report online. As of September 2020, they took account of every telco company around the world by announcing almost every category from global winners to rising stars and many more.

In this latest Opensignal report, we have been given a new look at how well do Singaporeans experienced roaming during their stay in Malaysia. The company were analyzing 3 categories - Download Speed Experience, Upload Speed Experience and Latency Experience - and discovered some interesting details of Singaporean's choice of telco operators during 2019.

Back in early November 2019, we wrote news about the 4G connectivity gap between the urban and rural areas in Malaysia and gained some interesting insights about it. This time around, Opensignal went deeper with their research on the performance of our local telco's mobile signal strength in both urban and rural areas. 

While Malaysia is heading towards a new 5G connectivity era, Opensignal has just released a new report that might be of your interest. As complaining is one of Malaysians' favourite things to do, we like to criticize the telcos whenever the line is down. If you're wondering why does that happen, here are some interesting facts on the 4G connectivity gap between the urban and rural areas in Malaysia. 

Opensignal recently revealed another report about the global smartphone mobile network experience and it revealed that for Malaysia, Samsung and Huawei smartphone users tend to get higher download speeds than Apple smartphone users. While Samsung smartphone users got the top spot of an average 16Mbps, Huawei smartphone users were just almost there at 15Mbps. Apple smartphone users were quite close still at 13Mbps.

Well, this is a great way to start off the week. Celcom Axiata Berhad has been awarded by OpenSignal for achieving the first spot for 4G Availability and Upload Speed Experience in Malaysia. This was published in OpenSignal’s ‘Mobile Network Experience: Malaysia’ report, April 2019, based on an independent analysis of mobile measurements recorded during the period of 1 December 2018 until 28 February 2019.
