Back in early November 2023, Disney+ began its password-sharing crackdown but only in Canada. Clearly following Netflix's footsteps, the company now has a deadline to go global, according to sources.

A few months ago, Netflix successfully implemented its password-sharing crackdown and introduced the Extra Members feature. We thought for sure more people would unsubscribe but contrary to that, Netflix actually gained more subscribers than ever. But can Disney repeat the success in its footsteps?

To no one's surprise, Netflix's Password Sharing charge was met with many unhappy customers. However, it was surprising to learn that Netflix's initiative on cracking down on password sharing is turning out to be quite successful.

Looks like the day has come. We have been wondering when Netflix will take action on password sharing after several delays. According to Netflix, sharing your account with someone who doesn't live with you costs $7.99/month (~RM36). For the Malaysian market, it will officially be RM13/month. 

If you follow Netflix, you would have heard about its intention of cracking down on password sharing since last year. While there isn't any official statement on how the company plans to do so, here's what we know about it so far.

We have talked about the Netflix password sharing feature for quite some time now. The company has been doing a pilot test in Costa Rica, Chile and Peru first since March to study and understand if it works before rolling out globally. Unfortunately, it seems that the pilot test has been making users more confused.

About a year ago, it was reported that Netflix began tracking down users with shared passwords. According to some users online, they couldn't log in anymore with a new notification but ever since then, nothing has changed much until now.

There's no doubt that Netflix is quite popular among Millenials in Malaysia, but that could change as the company is starting to track down users who use the same password in different households. It has been noted that some users cannot log in anymore with a new notification that they need to be in the same household as the original account holder.
