The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has revealed that 410.59 million unsolicited Short Message Services (SMS) were blocked in the first 9 months of this year. Its Deputy Minister, Teo Nie Ching further revealed that 19 million SMS containing hyperlinks were blocked from 2 May until September 2023.

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has instructed all telco companies in Malaysia to block any URL links in short message services (SMS). The directive, made through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) was to ensure that no malicious URL is being spread that would possibly make people become victims of scams.

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has revealed that a total of 170 compounds totalling RM7.47 million have been issued to telco companies and license holders for failing to meet the required service standards. The compounds were issued by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) from 2018 to 2022.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has revealed that it has been receiving an increasing amount of complaints from the public regarding telecommunication services in our country. Its chairman, Datuk Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek said that just last month, the commission received over 4000 complaints.
