In conjunction with U Mobile's mega ULTRA5G suite of plans launch, the company has also been officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for achieving the fastest 5G network rollout in the country. The award highlights the telco’s rapid deployment of its next-generation 5G network, setting a new benchmark for speed and execution within Malaysia’s telecom industry.

Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul has recently announced during the tabling of Budget 2021 that 8 million individuals under the B40 classification will be eligible for an RM180 telecommunication credit, which can be used to pay bills, or even purchase a new mobile phone. But that’s not all, it seems that the government will also be providing telco companies funding of up to RM1.5 billion in order to provide affected citizens with free data.

Based on a statement by abacusnews.com, it seems that China Telecom, as well as ZTE, could already be working on 6G technology right now which is expected to be commercialized somewhere around 2030. This early start into 6G is likely due to the fact that China wants to have a head start on the competition and have a stronger position in the telecommunications market.
