Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has revealed that the Cabinet will discuss maintaining the service tax for domestic flights at 6% instead of 8% as per the new service tax rates. He added that his Ministry will also discuss the matter with the Finance Ministry (MOF) since taxes fall under the latter’s purview.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has announced that the government has agreed to subsidise the purchase of economy flight tickets from Peninsula Malaysia to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan during festive seasons. Prices will be capped at RM599 for a one-way trip, starting with the Christmas period later this month.

Previously, we reported on the Ministry of Transport’s (MOT) plan to allow users to pay for public transportation in our country with debit and credit cards. Further breaking Touch ’n Go’s monopoly is the Works Ministry’s decision to allow toll payments via the same methods.
Well, we may get an announcement for when this open payment system would be implemented in both soon. This after Pay with Debit recently teased the matter via its official social media accounts.

The Transport Ministry (MOT) has announced that the guidelines on the Micromobility Vehicle Route Plan have been finalised. Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said that the plan details the development and design of routes for micromobility vehicles such as e-scooters, mopeds, personal mobility devices (PMD) and personal mobility aids (PMA) and others.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has announced that all p-hailing drivers and riders will be required to contribute to the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) under the Social Security Organisation (Socso). Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Wee asserted that the contributions will be made as a pre-condition for them to obtain a vocational license, which itself will be made mandatory.
