Recently, WhatsApp updated its privacy policy to mention the sharing of data with Facebook. What's annoying is that you have to agree to it, or risk getting locked out of the app for good. Now there is even a rumour that phone numbers of WhatsApp users are being exposed online.

WhatsApp recently introduced a new policy that requires you to share your data with Facebook. If you're not willing to agree to the new policy, which instant messaging app should you jump ship to?

Developers of WhatsApp has officially stated on their website, mentioning that they have extended the policy agreement date to 15 May 2021 instead of the initial date of 8 February 2021. With that being said, if you’re still keen on using WhatsApp, you have until the extended date to agree with their new policy.

Following WhatsApp's new privacy policy update, many users are jumping ship to another messaging platform such as Signal. Another popular messaging app is Telegram which has been around for quite some time now, and they have just reached a new milestone with 500 million active users.

After Elon Musk told his followers on Twitter to switch to Signal app from WhatsApp, there was a sudden spike in new registrations and verification code delays due to the number of new users. In case you missed it, WhatsApp recently updated their privacy policy on how they share your data with other Facebook-owned platforms, which got a lot of people feeling uneasy.

So yes, an unfortunate Malaysian student just lost RM84,600 due to an online scam. According to the Melaka Commercial Crime Investigation Department Chief, Supt E Sundra Rajan told the reporters that it happened not too long ago on 5 January, where she saw a Bitcoin advertisement on Facebook and then got scammed in WhatsApp.

Some of you might have already gotten a new message ping from WhatsApp about the new privacy policy which will be shared with Facebook. While they claimed it's for marketing and ads purpose, many see this as an intrusion to their privacy and Elon Musk is telling everyone to switch to Signal.

As you may know, WhatsApp isn't quite the most convenient messaging app around. Since you need your phone number to register, it's restricted to one device only. The company has been working on adding multi-device support to the platform since last year and it seems we may finally get it soon.

Based on a statement by wabetainfo.com, it seems that the developers of WhatsApp might be planning on developing a fully-fledged WhatsApp client for the PC very soon. While not much is known in regards to the release date of the feature, it does give us a better idea on what to expect as soon as it is globally available.
