    Xiaomi Mi 5 to feature Snapdragon 820 and ready in February

    As you may know already, Xiaomi CEO and tech analyst Pan Jiutang have commented that the Xiaomi Mi 5 won’t be arriving so soon due to the stock of the new Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 820. And as the saying goes “third time’s a charm”, Liwan Jiang, co-founder and Senior VP of Xiaomi have announced that the Mi 5 will indeed be equipped with the latest Qualcomm chip and will be in stock after the Chinese Spring Festival in February.

    Popular technology analyst, Pan Jiutang from Weibo have updated the internet about the Xiaomi Mi 5progress and he has echoed Xiaomi CEO’s words about not seeing the device so soon.  

    Like what the CEO previously said, Xiaomi is waiting until they have enough stock to meet the demand of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which will be displayed live at the CES 2016 tomorrow and Xiaomi Mi 5 won’t be part of it.

    A new leaked Xiaomi Mi 5 video from Weibo has surfaced and it actually seems quite convincing, It looks like the device will come in Black, White, Pink, and Gold according to the video. The video also leaked out the tech specs of both Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus.

    • 16GB or 64GB internal storage (expandable memory unknown)

    Xiaomi Mi 5 won't be released so soon according to Xiaomi CEO

    Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun has made a humble appearance in the company’s forums, announcing to the fans that the Xiaomi Mi 5 won’t be released so early next year. The reason for delaying the Mi 5 is because they are waiting for the first wave of smartphones equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which will be the latest chipset in the first quarter of 2016.

    Just last week, we got a render image of the Xiaomi Mi 5 with some speculated tech specs. Now we have another new one, and this one a more authentic and clearer version. 

    So looking at the pictures and based on our previous tech specs report, the Mi 5 display is around 5-inch instead of 5.2-inch and will have rounded corners too. The physical home button is also there, which we expect to have new fingerprint sensor unless it goes on the back like the Redmi Note 3. The device is also coated in full metal instead of the usual plastic cover from Xiaomi.

    A new unofficial image of Xiaomi Mi 5 has appeared on Weibo recently and it actually looks quite convincing. It also seems that the device will feature a physical home button on the front which is a first for Xiaomi and in terms of design, it looks similar to the Mi Note series. The render shows a device that looks like it’s made of the traditional Xiaomi plastic cover, but rumours state otherwise as it’s said that it will come in a full metal body.
