The ZenFone 7 series could use the same flip camera of the ZenFone 6

It's said that ASUS will be launching the ZenFone 7 and ROG Phone 3 by early Q3 2020. We already know that the latter is going to be unveiled this Wednesday (22 July), but will ASUS launch the ZenFone 7 series on the same day? Regardless, news of the ZenFone 7 has also been trickling in and sources claim that the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro won't have the same chipset.

According to DeaInTech, the ASUS ZenFone 7's kernel code shows that there would be two variants of the ZenFone 7 series. If we go by standard naming conventions, we can expect these two to be the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro. Anyway, the more important detail in the leak is that there are two different core clock speeds recorded in the kernel source - 2.84GHz and 3.09GHz.

If you look at the leaked screenshot, you'll see that the motherboard for the device is 'kona', which we know is used for both the Snapdragon 865 and 865+ chipsets. The official tech specs for the two chipsets also match the recorded max core clock speeds above. In other words, we can probably assume that the ZenFone 7 will be using the Snapdragon 865 chipset, while the ZenFone 7 Pro will use the more powerful Snapdragon 865+ instead.

With that in consideration, we do hope that the ZenFone 7 Pro will have a completely different focus compared to the upcoming ROG Phone 3. At least that way people will have a reason to go for it, but what do you think? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more updates on this.
