Analysts say Apple could put a monthly fee on some Apple Intelligence features

When the iPhone 16 series launches in September, only some of the Apple Intelligence features will be available. But in this latest news, there are new rumours that Apple may actually put a price on Apple Intelligence of up to $20 (~RM89).

Where did this rumour come from? Well, it's just speculation for now but two analysts think it's possible when speaking with CNBC. According to Neil Shah, partner at Counterpoint Research, he said AI investment is expensive and Apple may charge between $10 and $20 for Apple Intelligence. It could also be part of Apple One for more premium AI features.

On the other hand, Ben Wood, Chief of Research of CCS Insight also mentioned that Apple could follow OpenAI and Microsoft's footsteps, in which a few Apple Intelligence features will be free to use. This happens to fall in line with previous news that Apple is delaying some of the features at a later date, which could potentially be locked behind a paywall.

It's easy to bash Apple for capitalising on AI but let's also not forget that Google and Samsung are in the same boat. According to Samsung's official website, the Galaxy AI features are free to use on select Galaxy devices until the end of 2025. Google is also locking its Pixel's full Magic Eraser access features with all Google One.

For your information, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have AI Intelligence access due to the RAM power. Should the monthly subscription be true, then it may apply to the current iPhone 15 Pro variants as well. Until then, we just have to wait and see.
