Despite their small sizes, mini PCs can be powerhouses in compact form. Among them is the Mac mini, a macOS-based mini PC powered by Apple's M-series SoCs. The company unveiled its M2-powered model earlier this year, but a successor could already be in development.

According to Mark Gurman (via 9to5Mac), Apple has been testing new Mac PCs with the Apple M3 chipset. Of the bunch, the Mac identified as "Mac15,12" is believed to be the next Mac mini. This machine allegedly features an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and 24GB of RAM. Moreover, the CPU consists of four high-performance cores and four efficiency cores.

Higher-end models tend to feature more CPU and GPU cores. For example, the Mac Studio launched in June 2023 features the Apple M2 SoC. There are two variants of this chip, the M2 Max and M2 Ultra, with the latter packing a 24-core CPU, 60-core GPU, and 64GB of RAM.

Gurman also mentioned that Apple is testing six other Mac computers. The list includes a new 13-inch MacBook Air, 15-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, iMac, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro. All of them would feature an Apple M3 chip of one variant or another.

Also, Gurman mentioned these upcoming Apple M3-powered iMac and MacBook Pro laptops last month, so it's not the first time we've heard of them. They should launch in October 2023, when the company typically unveils most of its latest Macs.
