With the covid-19 strain of novel coronavirus now declared a pandemic, it has become all the more important to enact drastic prevention measures. This is why Apple has announced that it will be closing all of its retail stores outside of China till 27 March 2020.

This isn't the first time Apple has closed its stores due to the pandemic. Last month, Apple closed all its retail stores and operation offices in China due to the virus outbreak. Those stores and offices have been reopened, according to the official press statement. However, the company recently announced that it would be closing its retail stores in Italy. Now, Apple has also decided to close all of its retail stores outside of China until 27 March 2020.

In the press statement, Tim Cook confirmed that Apple's online store will remain open so that customers can continue to make purchases. As for people who need product support, they can visit support.apple.com instead. He also pledged to double up on all employee donations to support covid-19 response efforts globally.

It's certainly minimizing the risk for Apple store workers but it could impact business revenue. But what are your thoughts on the news? How effective do you think a 2-week closure would be? Let us know what you think on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
