Apple iPhone 12 series this year may come with models equipped with 3D depth camera

There may be a lot of production concerns when it comes to Apple. Fortunately, the unveiling of the Apple iPhone 12 series later this year doesn't seem to have been affected yet. This year's iteration of the iPhone is expected to come in three models and at least one of it will come with a 3D depth camera.

According to Fast Company, a reliable source has said that this camera is a laser-based sensor used to measure the distance from the phone to the subject. By using the information provided by the sensor, the phone can deliver different photo and video effects. Currently, it's believed that this sensor will be used in the two higher-end variants of the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max from last year both came with triple rear camera setups. So, if Apple sticks to the same naming convention, then the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max for this year could come with quad rear cameras. Of course, this is just speculation for now so do take the news with a pinch of salt.

With that said, do you consider a depth sensor important enough to affect your purchase decision? What other new features do you want to see from the Apple iPhone 12 series? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more tech news.
