In what has become the most leaked Apple iPhone to date, the Apple iPhone 6 has finally and officially been announced. Confirming most of the rumours, the Apple iPhone 6 will come in two versions, one with a 4.7-inch display and another with a 5.5-inch display. The 4.7-inch display version will be called the Apple iPhone 6. If you've seen the previously leaked dummy versions, not much has changed with the official iPhone 6. This means you get a 6.9mm thin metal chassis with rounded corners and sides. The most notable confirmed and unconfirmed features include the fact that it will not be using sapphire crystal glass, instead it will be using glass much like Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (Corning Gorilla Glass 3 was not named specifically). While the previous Apple iPhone 5S focused more on health, the newer focus for the iPhone 6 looks to be the camera as Apple are throwing in an image signal processor and faster auto-focus to help the still 8MP rear camera handle things. Notable new features of the Apple iPhone 6 include the following:

Apple A8 with M8 co-processor ~ The new processor is still 64-bit but is is now up to 25 percent faster than the previous A7 while the new M8 coprocessor takes off more of a load on tracking health and positioning statistics from the main processor, making the main processor more energy efficient. The A8 chip is built using a 20nm fabrication process, allowing it to be even more energy efficient and powerful without taking up more space. Apple estimates it to be 50 percent more energy efficient than the previous A7 chip. No details yet on RAM or clock speed but it is estimated to be 1GB of RAM.

Graphics and Display ~ The graphics are even better than before and is 50 percent faster than the graphics in the A7, which works even better with Apple's Metal graphics technology allowing for more realistic looking games and graphics. The 4.7-inch display now offers a Retina HD display resolution of 1334 x 750 for a pixel density of 326ppi (the 4-inch display on the iPhone 5S had 640 x 1136 pixels and the same 326ppi). A better polarizer is built into the display for better visibility in sunlight, even with sunglasses on.

Camera ~ While the camera resolution has remained at 8MP with 1.5-micron pixels, f/2.2 aperture and dual tone flash, the camera now has a new image signal processor resulting in better and faster autofocus. This has resulted in video and camera features that include 1080p HD video recording at 60 fps, 240 fps slow motion video at 720p resolution and time-lapse video recording.

Connectivity ~ According to Apple, the new iPhone 6 offers more 4G LTE bands than any other smartphone. Unfortunately, you're limited to just 4G LTE Cat4 or 150Mbps but this is still plenty fast. There is also support for VoLTE, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth LE for better overall connectivity.

Misc ~ The new Apple iPhone 6 is now available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage versions and comes packing with NFC. The TouchID fingerprint scanner remains in the Home button but a new barometer sensor can track changes in elevation so it will know when you're climbing instead of just walking. The Apple iPhone 6 will be available in gold, silver and space grey.
