Apple recalls three prong wall chargers to prevent risk of electric shock

Apple is currently recalling all their three-prong AC wall plug adapters or in layman’s terms, the charger for the Apple devices from the year 2003 to 2010. The company had found that in rare cases, the adapter can break and electrocute the user if the metal parts are touched.

Adapters that are being recalled can be seen in the image below. The device is white with no letters inside the slot in the middle. Adapters that are new with a gray coloured inside and writing in the slot are fine as well as Apple USB power adapters are fine to be used. If your adapter is affected, make sure you locate your device series number and head on over to the nearest Apple Service Provider or contact Apple Support and the will replace your adapter.

So far, Apple users in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong are currently affected by the recall program (and clearly us in Malaysia too since we also use three-prong adapters). Personally I feel that this is a good move by Apple to ensure that no risk of harm would happen to any of their users despite the fact that the risk of electrocution is rare. What do you think?
