That's right. Just three days ago, Boost silently introduced a new convenience fee rate change for Boost eWallet users using their credit cards to top up. As it's for Boost eWallet, this does not affect Boost Bank top-ups.

In case you didn't know, Boost was already charging a 1% convenience fee for credit card reloads but only if it exceeds a RM1,000 monthly limit. According to the new revision on the FAQ page, the new convenience fee is now 0.75% and the monthly limit has been removed. However, it now applies to a minimum credit card reload of only RM20.

Previously, Grab also did the same thing on its GrabPay Wallet. It began from 11 September 2024 onwards whereby Grab users are charged a 1% fee by topping up with a credit card. However, if you're using a Maybank co-branded credit card, there will be no fee charges.

On top of that, Touch 'n Go eWallet also added a new policy for overseas transactions. A 1% overseas transaction conversion fee will be charged in the daily exchange rate of your travel destination, starting from 25 April 2024 onwards.
