Collector shows off prototype of Apple AirPower online

Apple was working on AirPower for the last few years. The company ran into difficulties during the development and has since then moved on to a new product that's supposedly similar. But a collector managed to get his hands on a prototype.

An unfinished prototype of the Apple AirPower was unveiled online by Giulio Zompetti. In the video, an on-screen animation was played when the iPhone was placed on it. This indicates that the charging process has begun and that the prototype actually works. Of course, we don't know if this is the prototype with the overheating issue.

The Apple AirPower was intended to be a charging mat that can wirelessly charge multiple devices. It was meant to support an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods (the case). But the company was unable to solve the overheating issues, and eventually decided to release the MagSafe charger instead. As many of you know, the latter can only charge one device at a time.

It's unknown if Apple will ever go back to finishing up the AirPower, or when it will release the new product based on it. But with that said, is a multi-device wireless charger something you'd want? Share your comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
